We are winning.

The defense is playing pretty well.. Offense, sloppy.

Never mind that he played well and helped keep MU in the game against the Rockets.  ::)

Beyers is a turnover machine.

He has played about 6 minutes and has 4 TOs.

What does that have to do with anything? So you play well in one game means it gives you a pass to totally unravel the next? He is known to commit a ton of turnovers because he tries and dribble to much.

Coach him up or bench him

Go Herd!

Excellent half for Williams. This is the Williams we need if we hope to have a shot to beat WKU and North Texas and be a real contender in CUSA.

Have I not been saying that for days? Read my posts the last few days. Why he allows it is beyond me. Just one of those boneheaded turnovers would have Huggins or any other coach jerking any of his players within seconds. You can not allow that careless type of play to happen. What if we cut down on just a couple of those plays last game? We would be 5-0. Just way to much careless play. Every possession has to be valued.

If we can get half of that out of Williams consistantly we will be a better team. He had a great first half.

Kinsey having a hard time protecting the ball.  team not making good decisions overall.  should be up by 20+.  once again, bigs have to be tougher, get quicker to advantageous positions on D but also on O

Jannson lighting it up in the first half.

In the second half, just do more of the same, minus some silly turnovers.

The one thing that stands out to me is we don’t have good ball handlers. We have nobody that can really handle it great and penetrate and break down defenses. If we had a Damier Pitts type guard we would be dangerous. Imo that is Dannys biggest need going forward and also a pure knock down shooter.

Guys, Taylor is a scrappy player. He may not score as much as some would like but he does so many little things that help this team. He's undervalued, big part of this team having success.

Obinna with 8 points now could be dominant around the basket if they keep getting him the ball.

This was a good win to get the taste of the Toledo game out of our mouths.  Another good defensive game.  Offensively move the ball better.  Notice how Kinsey just let the game come to him instead of pushing it.  When he doesn't have to score he is content to let the team process work.  Notice that Williams--who had the hot hand--got the most shots in the first half.  Sign of a good team.  Lots of assists.

Only negative was the turnovers.  Our sloppiness with the ball drives me crazy and must keep DD up at night.  If we could cut out the sloppy turnovers--which often happen with just plain bad decisions and when Beyers tries to dribble :)

Play another great game on Tuesday and then use the Christmas break to mentally prepare for the CUSA schedule.  It's going to be hard to win 2 games in a row against every opponent.

Darius is out due to getting hit in the face with an elbow in the Toledo game. I’d say for precautionary reasons. I think IB has a sore knee/ankle problem.

He took your advice and benched him. As you recall he did the same thing last year about 50% through the conference season. I was at the practice in Birmingham the day after the MTSU game that he did it. Danny exploded on him. Hecsat for a few games until he started to get himself under control

His hands are horrible. I’m just so glad we got Oak or our inside game for the future would be looking bad. He is going to be a warrior with a year under his belt and another 15 pounds of muscle. Collins will be a good 3/4 player for us down the road. We have got to get a good ball handing PG. I know we may not go by names like PG in this system but whatever you want to call it, we need a good handle guy running the show. And we need Early to develop. Against a really good quality defensive team we will struggle because nobody handles well enough to create and get to the rim.

That's why, herdorbust, I've got to think if Danny brings anyone else in for 21-22, it would be a solid all around guard in the, hopefully, 6'2" to 6'4" range, with a good outside shot, and solid ball handling and passing skills.  Again, don't know how many of our key seniors plan, or will plan, to return in 21-22, if any.  But hopefully the Coaching staff has some contingency plan, with a player or two in mind that they could recruit, if need be.

Robert Morris is usually a competitive team in their league, Northeast Conference, I believe.  We needed this game.

Funny thing is that when the "Big Time" programs play the Robert Morris type teams of the world, it doesn't hurt their overall ranking or reputation.  Guess you all know that WVU was suppose to play them, I believe, to home their home season in Morganhole, but the game was cancelled due to COVID issues, I believe.

Also, anyone notice that we were suppose to play early on this season a game with Coppin State, who had to back out due to, again, COVID related reasons.  But did you see where within a week or so after our postponement Coppin ended up in Durham, NC, playing Duke?  And they only lost by 10 to the Dukies!! Additionally, as of now, Coppin is either 1-7 or 1-6, having played about twice the number of games as MU has played.  Sure a quick recovery from all that COVID that kept them away from Huntington.  They just recently in the last couple of days lost to VA Tech down in Blacksburg.  Guess all that medicine, $$$$$$, those ACC schools could provide Coppin was the "right stuff", recovery wise.  Guess coming to the CAM just wasn't the "right prescription"!!

Great team win today. Williams not only shot the ball well, he played a really good game over all. Lots of hustle, and active on defense. Was very happy to see this.

Loved seeing the young guys getting some minutes this game.

If we raise enough money through the tip-off club, would they be allowed to use that money for an extra scholarship in this class? If so, I would be interested in donating towards that.

I would doubt that. As we know most tip off money goes to air travel. Big Green funds as many scholarships as possible. The majority however, come from the general budget

and as we have discussed before... people that get mad and pull their money hurt all programs at Marshall not just football.  I don't get it at all.  Sure don't go to football games, don't buy football tickets as I completely understand the frustration and issues with football but don't stop giving to the Big Green.  Once they stop it is harder to get them back no matter how many games are won or who the coach is.  I know this from first hand experience trying to get fans to donate.  there are way too many fans that talk a big game but when it is time to open up their checkbook, they never write the check.

then don't complain when other sports suffer.  You do have a choice...you don't support the football program.  it is that simple.  Give money to other sports or BG.  Pulling money from the Big Green does nothing but hurt the other sports even more.

Plus a significant amount of people don't ever come back.  If they did we wouldn't be sitting around 3,500 BG members.  It isn't for lack of effort either.

Agree with lexkyherdfan.

As to the Robert Morris game, I thought we looked sloppy and undisciplined. This was not the same effort we were seeing in the first four games. And the so-called depth ain't all that. I hope Darius is back in action tomorrow.

I agree. A win is a win but the play against Toledo and Robert Morris won’t win many games against solid legit teams. We just don’t have a guy that can’t penetrate and create. We only have 4 guys that can even attempt it, west, Kinsey, Taylor and Early. Early isn’t ready yet. Kinsey still not a great ball handler in traffic. West is ok but struggles against lock down defenders. Actually Taylor is probably the best but just very seldom does it. I’ve said since Jon left that we are missing that straw to stir the drink. Danny has got to find that guy that is a created and ball handler for his offense to work the way it should. You can get by against the mid level teams but really good defensive teams we will struggle bigtime.

Agree with the preceding post.  Danny better use this game with UNC-A as a final game prep or scrimmage for the LA Tech series.  Play up to 7-8 players whom he expects to play the most in CUSA games.  Don't worry and the other 5 or so players and walkons.  They can get their work in at practice, individual work, etc.
