Around 20:25, he says he?s happy in Huntington and mentions staying 5 or 6 more years

Strong words from Huff!
Was So Miss just a bluff to get a raise and a long term? +Money for coaching staff
-
Just extend him. I don?t donate much but will be pulling my money from football to soccer if we go with Gibson. Season tickets will not get renewed either. We play for championships, yet get rid of the coach that gets us there. No sense whatsoever.
-
interesting that he didn't feel this way last year after we offered an extension after the Va Tech game. Turned it down.

He's turned down two offers.

Before the season or recently?

There is something to be said for negotiating with a clean slate and a whole body of work. If he accepted an extension last year and came back this year to value his worth they simply say we just extended you with a raise. Now we have to rehire him as a head football coach instead of a noob position coach. He's not dumb. He's just different.

did you feel that way in '20 when we let doc go? it's the same situation. championship-caliber season (played in title game) that followed multiple years of mediocrity.
-
I don?t give a %^&* if he previously turned down extensions.
Huff is publicly saying he wants to be here NOW. He?s got us in the championship. We have a good team to build around for next year with him coming back.
He swallowed his pride and publicly said he wants to be here. Guess what, time for our decision makers to swallow their pride and extend this man.
I?m telling you right now, I?m going to be PISSED if the ego of decision makers end up costing us a championship caliber coach.

And Doc didn't beat ND. You can call it a fluke if you want but we lined up and flat beat the
. Who did Doc beat? And Doc had thugs, fights in parking lots, and 7 of the worst losses at the Joan. So no it's not the same.

We don't know really know anything about Huff's genuine interest in USM or USM's genuine interest in Huff.

He's turned down two offers.
What is your source? He said in the press conference, the offer hasn't been presented to him. So please tell me how do you know and name names.
-
I can't help but think he's sincere talking about his connection with the area. Seems like a certainty after watching that, that USM is a fall back position, he AND his family love this area, he's worried about having to pack up if we don't retain him, his wife quit her job to take care of babies as some of us thought. Any bad talk might have been out of frustration that they are in limbo. There may be no truth to rumors of previous extensions or they were not taken seriously as they were lowball offers, which we are known to do.
I would feel different if he'd just coachspeaked "I like it here and I'm not going anywhere." But to give those kind of details about his life and to say it's not up to him screams that we are choosing to throw him away. There will be hell to pay over this from the community if this guy wins a title and they dump him.
We all know he had a setback season last year, but he made sweeping changes and seem to have fixed most of it. I don't see anyone in the SBC that can beat us next year if we can keep most of this team and staff together. They're finally what we all knew they could be just in time to kick them out the door. Ridiculous. I feel bad for the guy.

I'm not for or against him staying at MU at this point. I will, however, say that todays presser and last week (I think) are two of the best ones that "I" have heard him give since being at MU. Go Herd.........WE ARE!!!!!!!! MARSHALL!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
And I thought Graham Goch was "The Winston Churchill of Marshall Football". Turned out it was really going to be Huff, lol.

Wow....pretty amazing stuff starting at the 16 minute mark.....Doesn't sound like a guy that is wanting to leave. Says the choice is not his. Says his familiy is rooted here in Huntington and he's open to staying another 5-6 years. Pretty powerful stuff.
-
Sounds like we need to pull the offer from Gibson and sign the coach we already have.
