  • 1. Team played hard and to win.

    2. These weren't "glorified scrimmages", Elmore played quite a bit, and they played and were coached to win (as said above).

    3. Elmore can turn it on/ take it to another level when he wants and should be fun again to watch this year. He was toying with the other team tonight at end of game.

    4. EVERY NEWCOMER, I repeat, EVERY NEWCOMER outside of Brooks-Harris and Kinsey will be multi year works in progress.

    5. Iran Bennett really worries me. Biggest dude on floor and rarely if ever gets a rebound. Elmore lobbed a perfect oop for him right in front of rim and I mean RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE RIM tonight and he couldn't dunk it...went for the lay-up and I think missed. Bennett logged a lot of playing time this trip and finished with maybe a couple rebounds (2?) and ZERO dunks. Beast Mode...he is not yet. To his credit he did get a few nice blocks tonight.

    6. We are the deepest we've been in a long, long time.

    7. This is the first what you would call Athletic team in the Dan D era. There are going to be plenty of "Ohhh" moments in the Cam this year and in years to come.

  • Think it was good to have to play hard at the end of the game to win.  This team appeared better then the previous two.  Lots to work with and I'm sure there will be lots of improvements thru the upcoming season.  Not sure about Bennett, but think he will be a big factor in many games.  Will be fun to watch.

  • My only concern is the 5 spot. I really didnt think peneva would hurt that bad. But i think it is going tobe a huge loss. Yes he was thin, but he had a lot of skill. Great hands, could bring it up the floor and block shots. He really helped keep the offensive flow moving with spacing, pick and roll, etc... the rest of the team is back with added depth and athletisism. But we have to find a way to get that same movement and not so much one on one a just jacking up 3s. That is where jon becomes so good, creating and throwing it up and dishing. Someone has to be able to go get it besides williams.

Elmore didn't "turn it on" against WVU in the tournament.

  • The new comers that i was impressed with are as follows:  Brook-Harris, Dillon, & Kinsey in that order...  Brooks-Harris was solid all around.  He gets a little more muscle on his bones he will be awesome.  Dillon played scrappy D, and hit his shots.  Kinsey has everything but a consistent shot!  Two things as a team that was impressive was foul shooting, and team rebounding.  Our overall length and quickness got to a lot of rebounds.  Maybe a third good aspect was team shot blocks.  We have not Penava, but as a team we rejected a lot of balls.  Sure would be fun if we some how got Penava.  Don't forget we still have Ante Sustic coming.  From the film he is going to be a bigger version of Brooks-Harris.  6-10 not a bad addition.

  • But JE damn sure turned it on in the second half of the CUSA championship game. I will always remember 7 straight makes with 6 of the from 3 to get us to the NCAA tourney.

The best defensive guard in NCAA basketball was all over him. That may have had something to do with it.

  • Beyers better be all that and more. Bennett still has a huge learning curve and will take time. Once he gets it, should be good to go.

Williams' injury and departure and the fact that Burks couldn't throw it in the ocean in that game had to have something to do with it also!!

  • And somtimes you just have a bad game. Also jon didnt have much help from the other guards that game. If you go back and watch that game, the other guards werent to interested in getting the ball against that pressure. It was almost like jon was on an island by himself.

  • It was good to beat Providence Storm.  Jon was on fire.

  • It was good to beat Providence Storm. That is more than the North Carolina Tarheels could do.

I think the storm was actually a pretty good team. But this was there first game. They beat unc in 2014.

  • Storm was definitely better than the first two teams. They had several really good shooters.
