  • When you think about the possibility of a Dec 1 game with VaTech, considering who we could play in a bowl, isn't this the very best "bowl" opponent we could have secured this year?  Plus it's close and many fans should have that weekend open if they were not scheduled, hoping for the Herd in the C-USA Championship game.

That in mind, I'm sure hoping the Hokies can beat UVa, but have my reservations.

  • It's absolutely the best "bowl" opponent we could have gotten.

It also will be nice to play another football game this year.

I think our defense will hold them to few points. I also think John and our offense will hold us to few points. So nice to be able to play a name team in another game, but it will be another 3 hours of boredom...and L for John.

John's been pretty emotional this year...what I am ultimately hoping for is a resignation within 10 days after our bowl game.

  • Yes. I would even go as far to say turn down a bowl this year if we get to play them and save the money.

What? That is a ridiculous idea? Why on earth would we pass on a bowl game and just play VT as our bowl game? We will still be able to play in a bowl and now we have a shot at a 10 win season if we win out including the VT game.

Why would you even get your hopes up like that?

Did you watch the ODU game against VT.  If VT beats us it’s not because they are a good team this year.  They are not.  We get beat it’s a bad L.  Herd has a real game this Saturday. Fiu beat us at The Joan last year.

with the league bowl setup we NEVER lose money going to a bowl game. Expenses are paid by CUSA

  • Hopefully being at home VT can win. But odds are they wont. They are just flat out bad this year. I cant believe a VT defense would ever be this bad. Must be the worst D they have had in 40-50 years. I expect UVA to roll them but maybe playing for a bowl will morivate VT.

Your logic is so backwards. Virginia Tech would be our best perceived win, since Maryland.

Yes perceived to those who care about named programs.  Beating VT in 2018 means to me that VT stunk in 2018.  Marshall should be undefeated right now!

If Maryland is our best perceived win under Holliday that's not good.  Purdue is a better football name than Maryland.

It’s great to play VT on a 2-1 or 1-1.  But this VT team does not have there fans bragging.  Marshall I’m starting to think gets tight and nervous when playing bigger named teams. Can’t do that to win.  Great get by AD. Herd should beat VT.  Worst VT team in long time. That’s why they scheduled extra game Bc consecutive bowl streak in jeopardy.

  • Truly hope they win this week and then we go down there and beat them. That'd be great for this team, program, and going in to next year with a QB who has started for an entire year.

You do understand that we will still play in a “”Bowl Game” even if we play VT and lose to them right?
Just because we have agreed to play this game doesn’t mean that this is our bowl game. It may be a better named team than we play in a bowl but it will still be game #12 on the season.
And that gives us a shot at a 10 win season!

  • Yes. My point, which most everyone got, was that our last game against vs tech world be better than our bowl opponent in can interest and name recognition.
