  • Thanks for coming to play last night. Wish the other guys showed up. Haven't heard anyone mention his outstanding night. Showed up when it mattered most!

IB has no business being on the court what-so-ever. Starting him sends the wrong message to the team.

  • Agreed. In the midst of getting hammered, I couldn’t help but stay excited about the future.  Williams, West, Kinsey, George, Beyers, Bennett all freshmen or sophomores.  It is a really good foundation to build on after Jon and CJ.

  • I have noticed one thing about Jannson. He seems to really step up against bigtime opponents. He just seems to have nerves of steel. Some of the other guys miss a couple shots and they start tightening up and start hoping the ball goes in. Jannson just lets it fly and plays like cool hand luke!!!!

  • I also salute Jansen on a fine game.  However, I do hope that in the future he will strive not to provide extra motivation to opponents.  From the Washington Post:  "Before the game, Marshall tweeted a video — later deleted — of forward Jannson Williams saying the team’s emphasis must be on stopping the Terps' big men, and that Maryland’s guards wouldn’t be as much of an issue. The video circulated around Maryland’s locker room."

“I don’t know why he said that,” (Anthony) Cowan said. “That was a bad thing to say."

  • MD is a get ready for an NBA training camp program.  Anyone of there starters comes there with a chance at the NBA.  Maryland cares most about basketball.  Never give the Terps extra motivation.   But Williams is young and backed up his game.  Never fear names never fear program names.  Marshall puts too much emphasis on the little ol Marshall vs the big boy mentality.  Everyone bleeds the same.

  • Motivational factor or not, our deepest and strongest position by far is at the guard slot.  When our guards collectively "tank" offensively like they did at Maryland, we are going to be in trouble, no matter who we are playing!!!

First and foremost I agree with you and we have had a talk with Jannson. I do want to let the public know that he has been Mis-quoted. His comment was not meant to be demeaning to the Maryland guards but more so complimenting his own guards. He said “ we have to take care of the bigs. We don’t have to worry about their guards. We have elite guards”

He realizes how his comments were taken out of context. I doubt it will happen again.

Thank you all for the kind words about him.
