Trying to be a super awesome wife and get a tailgate spot in front of the Joan for Saturday... can I do this for a single game? Work anything out with someone who knows of an available space? Let me know... promise we are a good time, will bring treats, and get our herd on with y’all!

West lot spots are pretty much in people's wills and require a substantial donation to get on the waiting list.  So not available unless you know someone that isn't going and will lend you the spot for a game.  There are several good tailgate areas very near the stadium.  I suggest turning on 21st St at Tic Toc Tire and drive down the road and using the Logan meat parking.  It's a block or two from the stadium and filled with people tailgating.  Costs $10 to park there.  If you get there early you'll park really close to the stadium.

Other option is to float around the West Lot till you find someone you know and latch on.  Almost everyone there is very welcoming and will take care of you.

For gameday tailgating you'll have to either park on the street or a private lot. There's usually spots available on the side streets and next to Sheetz and the alley behind fast food places south of 5th Ave. The firehouse on 20th St and Marshall Child Development Academy allow tailgating for a donation. There's also on-street parking in the alleys and roads behind Tic Toc and other businesses, north of 3rd Ave.). The university lots and most private lots (Tic Toc, University Car Wash, fast food places, etc. are permit only and sell out by early summer).

And be aware that you can't tailgate at the ACF lot, it's for parking only. I really hope that once the transfer goes through, it will be available for tailgating but we'll have to wait and see. And it's absolutely crazy how many people buy spots in the West Lot and either don't use them or arrive 20 minutes before kickoff.

I know a few people that have seats in the chairbacks and parking spots in the west lot. They simply want to park close to the stadium entrance for convenience, less walking. They have no interest in tailgating.

Well your friends can thank the tailgaters for arriving early.  If everyone whipped in the lot 30 mins before kick off we’d have a traffic problem.

They have money and don't want to tailgate. That's completely fine.

It would be nice if the university would cordon off part of the West Lot for parking only and leave the rest to tailgating or have some kind of a shuttle service. It would really improve the atmosphere and could turn into something really special. I turned down a parking pass a number of years ago -- $1,800 was too much money for the hassle of constantly moving a tent or worrying about kids getting run over.
