  • I'm not criticizing what I saw last year. He might have improved, but you guys are acting as if he is going to be Zion this year. Please pump the brakes a bit here.

I am rooting for IB. He seems like a great kid and he definitely has the POTENTIAL to be good.

His biggest problem imo is how soft he plays. Someone that big should be physical and trying to dunk on people.

They have spent the spring and summer correcting that. Don't take our word for it. Come and see for yourself. I have no idea your size but I assure you that YOU do not want to be under the basket when he goes to the rack.

Did I say Zion? Where did you get that? I said he has lost a lot of weight and he is the most improved player on the team. He is going to be a major player for us this year but never compared him to Zion!!!! I think you are adding words as you read. But yes he is going to be good and still has 3 years left. He is going to be maybe the best true big man Marshall has ever had here. I will go that far and you can copy and paste that.

    Bennett is most improved

I think Jannson is shooting much better. In my opinion it is because he is much more free to roam the floor without having to worry about posting down low at the 5. He is not a 5 and never pretended to be. He simply did what his team needed him to do. Thankfully, we are big enough now inside that he can move out to the 3-4.

Taylor has changed his body considerably since last year and is playing with, I believe, more confidence. This past week Dillon has also looked better shooting the ball. He struggled in that area last year. If he can continue to improve there it will only make us more solid.

Beyers has lost 10 pounds but has gotten MUCH stronger. He is getting less and less shy about popping from outside. Once he has totally come to terms that he is to shoot the 3 with regularity, he too will continue to improve.

Jannson is really shooting the ball well this year, best I’ve seen him shoot it. West has really taken a leadership role and is coaching up the players as much as Danny lol. Beyers has really changed his body. Looks much leaner thru the hips this year. Goran is just a big guy and already has a filled out body for a freshman. Marko is going to be a fan favorite imo. It just seems like he is always at the right place. He still doesn’t really know the system but is on of the most impressive guys. Like Collis P said, we have so many lineups to choose from. Danny could go Goran, Bennett, Williams, taevion and Marko. That is one big lineup if need be and that isn’t even counting 6’10” beyers.

Let's hope so, because a middle school girl could have been standing there last year and he would have did a pump fake, followed by a fade away layup.

And I have said I hope he is good, and that he could be good. I have commended him for working hard, losing weight, etc.

You said the same things about him last year so excuse us for being cautiously optimistic this year.

If Jannson is shooting great, the next phase is putting it strong on the floor. He could really be special if he gets that down

Thanks for those kind words. He told me he's been working on the head fake, one dribble, two dribble, bending the rim kinda moves.  Been waiting to see that for two years, lol !!!

  • I have not been able to watch any of the practices thus far this year, but by the way everybody is talking I would have to guess Danny will narrow it down to about eight and this is my opinion on how it'll play out:

1- West: So much energy and makes the team go/ weakness offensive production
2- Kinsey: So athletic on both sides of the court/ hopefully his ball handling and confidence has improved
3- Sarenac: I'm hearing good thinks and hoping he's as versatile as people are saying
4- Williams: Hoping he's gotten bigger and keeps shooting
5- Bennett: Was not impressed last year, but if he keeps losing weight and ids coached to play to his size, he could be good

    Certain bench minutes:
Taylor: need offense out of him
Beyer: Depending on how things go could go he could be a starter, great fit for our system
    George: super versatile

    Question marks:
Brooks-Harris: really pulling for him to grab some minutes
Miladinovic: I know nothing about him, but seems to have potential
    Dillon: too deep
    Rucker: too deep
    Sustic: too deep

Danny seems to think that we are truly 10 deep. We have never been close that since he has been here

HM, has the Herd EVER been this deep in talent since maybe the Russell Lee, Mike D years? And even then was there a bench warmer that was as good as Cam?

I certainly don't recall. IF he can sign the 2 he wants for next year, (I know we only have one scholarship available) we will have a VERY bright future.

Agreed.  Never seen this much potential versatility on an MU BB roster before.

We weren't deep back then.  That was the greatest glaring problem back then.  The five starters were great, once one or more of the starters were in foul trouble the game was in serious jeopardy.  It was especially true when Lee was in foul trouble as he was the go to guy when the game was on the line.

Bennett inadvertently knocked out a teammate going for a rebound in practice.
