Good question, JReese.

Perhaps they use some easily strippable tape that they can leave down for a while.  Obviously, I would think, that if it wouldn't interfere with the players during the course of a volleyball match, it wouldn't interfere with the basketball players during practice sessions.  Guess when the seasons overlap, that the lines can be removed for basketball games.  Would seem to be labor intensive if the lines were constantly being put down and then removed right away.  That's my guess, for what its worth!

I don't know how Marshall does it.  I've seen other schools and gyms use tape.  They actually make a gym floor line taping machine.  The machines I've seen look similar to a machine used to put chalk lines on a baseball or football field.  If that's what Marshall uses the tape could be easily applied.  Simply measure, lay a strait edge, put the tape machine against the straight edge and move the tape machine along the straight edge.  I assume a standard floor buffer would remove any tape residue or maybe even the tape itself.
