Topic: Big Green has gone cheap

Got my Big Green renewal card several weeks ago but no license plate for my car.  I called yesterday and was told they discontinued the license plates because they cost too much.  REALLY ???

So what is there purpose? The big green’s sole purpose is to provide scholarships to college athletes. So if the price of printing a license plate goes up that is less money that goes to college kids.

They gave out Marshall Big Green tumblers at the Big Green cookout instead.

I know it seems silly but I always liked getting the new plate.  I always replaced old one with new and added the old plate to a nice collection of plates on my garage wall.

Those license plates were a nice little bit of advertising for the Big Green and Marshall when people actually used them.

I read that you had to go to the cookout to get your swag.  Not really fair to out of town people but that is the way it goes.  I guess they shouldn't have to bribe me to be a Big Green Member.  :)

Yep. It is time to sign back up if you haven't already. The membership party at Danny's house is Oct 10. All are invited and you can then sign up at the get together.
Just call Teddy at the BG office and tell him that you are going to be there so they know how much food to get

I have used my Herd Perks card many, many times and that alone has saved me some bucks over the years. That’s a BG perk I take most advantage of.

It's disappointing that you have to go to an event to receive a small bit of recognition for your support.  When you are 76 years old and "living the dream" of a fixed income and they can't afford a $2 gift for your continued support it's very sad.  I'm embarrassed for my alma mater.

Apparently, the MU athletic department did not do COMPLETELY away with the policy of operating on the "slow dime, fast nickel" principle when "High Pockets" Kayo Marcum left!!

I dropped my big green donation to next to nothing this year, have a decent amount to put into the tip off club, will definitely do that.

They should go back to the days of yore when prisoners made license plates....that would solve this issue ;D

They should give you the option when you process the renewal; would you like a 2019 Big Green Plate or not? I am not going to let it ruin my day though.

Those of us in Ohio cant use them for now because we still have front plates. Not sure about other states..

He can do the auto draft and make it very easy and extremely affordable.  Basically $12.50 a month

I think I have 7-8 sitting in my office that I never used.  You can have those if you want them.

I chose to not receive any plate or other benefits other than the discount card so more went to the cause.  Also donated 7 years of my time to being a Chapter Rep in the Charlotte area.  Too many "what about me" people here.

Want a plate, go buy a plate.  Want to support the program, give.

You missed the point.  I was surprised that we didn't get a license plastic plate this year with our renewal.  I would have paid extra if I had the opportunity to get one.  I collect these along with other MU memorabilia   

As a former FB season ticket holder for 27 years and present BB ticket holder for nigh on to 36 years I am not looking for a handout.  I just feel the we should get some recognition for Big Green membership.  The discount cards don't help any as I am a senior citizen and already get a discount at many places.

I lived in Virginia and Virginia had front and rear plates. I remember before the plates, a BG used to give out window sticker out instead of plates. Maybe they should give the window stickers again?

If you anybody wants plates, I may have 30 or 40 years of old plates that were never used.
