Rule question

  • I think it was an incomplete pass but even if it was a fumble, I did not think the offense could advance a fumble that was beyond the line of scrimmage..

    4th down and field goal or I do believe punt is the only time.

    Last year against UT, UGA Issac Nauta caught a strip sack and took it 40 plus yards for a TD.

  • You can advance a fumble unless it is a 4th down, and on 4th down only the same player can advance the ball.

  • That is catching it in the air..if you could advance a fumble then when someone is being tackled they could just fumble forward and recover.

    They prevent that with the forward lateral call. If it’s obvious that’s what is going on you get penalized.
