  • They only have about 11 games left so I doubt it.

  • Two more games against the Pirates.  Who would have thought that the White Sox would be the hurdle this year?  Bad time for Sonny Gray to go down.

  • If they finish 500 I think they'll slip in.  Cardinals have to play, what, fourteen games in ten days against some tough competition.  But Reds have the White Sox, Brewers and Twins and all are pretty good.  So I don't think it's going to happen.

  • They did the first thing that they pretty much had to do in sweeping the Pirates.  If they can go 5-4 over the next nine games I think they are in.  It will be a tall order.

  • I still say finishing .500 will get it done.  That's 4-4 the rest of the way, Bauer and Castillo will probably get two starts each.  In the last week they have played better than they have since 2012.  Teams that peak at the end can be dangerous.

  • The Reds took 2 of 3 from the White Sox and beat the Brewers tonight. 8-2 in their last ten games.  They are one game over .500 with five to play.

  • Would love the Reds to play against Homer!  Now that would be interesting.

Hard task for the Reds...to win in MN.  Their home record is 23 - 5.

  • Imo the Reds will need 2 of 3 from the Twins.

  • Tribe fan here and will be rooting for the Reds this weekend.

Was pondering the playoffs and trying to get a feel for who the odds on favorite is for the WS.

With a full season of play you get a feel for which division is strongest in  each league.  With the schedules this year in the abbreviated season, that’s not real possible.  The dodgers definitely look strong in the NL but not sure about the AL.   But who really knows how strong the west is?  The Rays have pretty much had the East all year along with the A’s in the west.   The central has been tribe sox and twins...

This playoff format is going to be kind of fun I think.  Really a pretty good way to handle the lack of inter division regular season competition.

  • Great win by the Reds tonight.

They are 10-2 in their last 12 games.  Worst they can finish now is .500.  Would like to see them finish strong and get second in the Central.

  • I was reading on Reds.com this morning that the Reds can finish no higher than the number 5 seed and could finish as low as the number 8 seed. Right now, they are at the 5 seed and, if things play out, would be on the road to face the Braves. One thing that is a fact, according to that article, is the Reds will be on the road no matter where they finish. No matter, I am happy the Reds made the playoffs.

You will probably see a tight rotation in the playoffs. Bauer, Castillo and Gray will be your three starters. The other thing is the Reds need to do something on offense besides the home run. In that article I read, the Reds offense is batting .211, last in the majors. 61% of their runs come via the home run. I am hoping that the recent surge in offense will continue but you will see the best pitchers from the opponent. Best of three series starts on Wednesday. There will be no days off during this series.

They definitely underachieved this year.  Bauer is going to win the Cy Young or should, that is something that has never happened before with a Reds pitcher and is a nice bonus for Reds fans.  I think if they can make a few moves in the offseason--maybe find another infielder that can hit for average and another good middle reliever or two and with a full and uninterrupted spring camp and 162 game season next year they could go very deep next season or even with the Series.

But they are hot, hot, hot right now, "Hitless Wonders" or not.  I'd rather have a team that's hot at the end than a team that's steady through the year actually, look at the Nationals last year.
