  • Throwing the ball all over the stadium. Wide open playbook. Working on depth. The backup quarterback comes in on in the third quarter. Defense flying to the ball all game long. Nice win, very unDoclike process. Maybe it wasn't him under the gaiter.  Not getting ahead of ourselves (remember Morgan State which we opened with with similar results then we went on to a terrible season) but it was a very promising start to the Grant Wells era.

Wells is a lot different than Litton.  Way more potential.

  • If you're not good enough to lead the team to victory, be smart enough to get out of their way.  I think he's letting things happen. which is good.  I also noticed Cramsey was in the box.  Good for him.  You just cannot see the defense unfold from the sideline and look for exploits.  Other than the kickoff game being a little shaky, everybody gets an A+.

I kept saying the whole game "they got out of their own way."  Best way I knew to describe it.  Great game to watch and damn fine execution.  If there was any issue in the locker room before it did not show today.

That's what I've been thinking too.

I came close to posting that we were  clearly capable of competing for a FCS title, but I really want to see where we stand against FBS teams.

Does Appy still open next week with Charlotte?  Are college games in North Carolina a "go" at this point?  I note ESPN heavily promoted that GAME DAY would be at Wake Forest next week where the Deacons are slated to play "Clemp Son".

I agree. 13-1 last year. Conference champs. Knocked off two P-5's.

  • I'm more optimistic about this than I was a couple of days ago but Appy St is really good and way closer to Cincinnati or UCF then any conference game we'll play.

  • As I have previously posted, it appears that Doc is cleared to win "big" this season.  Heavy, heavy dues paid and no P5 toes or even Boise to step on now. Best or better players now playing for the Herd. Hurry-up's and playbook opened. A blind man could it see it from a mile away.

Appy will be given the appearance of a "trap" game for them. Appy has no chance in that one.

It's time to make that next big move and regain what we use to have, win and teams should FEAR THE JOAN AGAIN!

College and NFL games are a "go" in North Carolina -- just with no fans at least until October.

Unless a team has too many COVID cases and has to stop practice -- aka ECU -- games are proceeding.  Appalachian State has been having a growing number of cases on campus, however I haven't seen that the football team has been effected/infected.  UNCC is still set to play Appy State this coming Saturday.

I'll definitely be watching the game on TV and looking forward to seeing how the Herd can beat a Top 25 opponent and make a claim for their own spot in the Top 25.

  • We don't have to beat Appy to be successful.  If we play like yesterday and still lose then they are the better team and not much we can do about that.   If we melt down with turnovers, penalties, and start getting very conservative withe the ball, then we will have failed.
