  • Does anyone else think that Cramsey is our unannounced "coach in waiting"?

  • can't rule it out but the QB situation and choices since he's been here has me miffed-   i just can't begin to guess the dynamics between Doc, him and the offense in general since he's been here  ???

  • Been thinking the same thing for a while.  No mention of Doc's contract being in it's last year and it sure seems that Cramsey has been the spokesperson for the team, or at least it seems he's been interviewed and quoted the most.  That and it seems the reigns were taken off him yesterday for the first time.

That being said, Doc has always said it is a personnel driven game and perhaps Cramsey just couldn't open up the offense with IG??

I have a hunch about this, I think IG had the skills in practice for a limited offensive scheme, but perhaps wasn't making the right decisions in the games themselves.  For many reasons, they kept giving him chances after chances; remember he was Freshman co-player of the year his freshman year. It would be VERY hard to take the ball away from a kid who had those honors.

Now Grant comes along very well, a student of the game and apparently a very smart kid. He has the physical tools to compete with IG, and the mental strength to make the right judgments more often.

Also, while I am pleasantly surprised, let's remember (with a bit of caution) the GW got to start against a very weakened EKU team, a level down and several "opted out" players due to COVID 19.  We'll see more next week when the speed on both sides is more equal, CBs close much faster and the D line is putting considerable more pressure on him.  I expect good things, for sure, but it may be his journey to this date that made him so good yesterday.

Depending on how the season plays out. But Cramsey offense is bringing excitement back and if we win, I could see Cramsey being a serious contender for the head coaching job if Doc is not here next year. On a side note, even if we have a very successful season, I hope this is Doc's last year..

I agree it was against EKU but you can also see certain things about a kid. Mechanics, release of the ball, arm string, leadership, unflappable, enthusiasm. Those things don’t lie. And remember a guy named Pennington? Although you could see it in him his first season, he didn’t look as good as Wells. I could see IG was not a quarterback. Horrible mechanics, no excitement and just no accuracy.

  • Green was a deep ball thrower and that’s it.  It takes comparison of Hs film to know Wells was better.  Nothing else was needed to be seen.  Wells is good.  He will play up and down.  But green wouldn’t beat app state.   In fact he would complete 40 percent for 150 yards.

    1) Your hunch is more than likely at least partially correct. I'd also suspect that IG didn't take film study as seriously as he needed to.
    2) IMO in most cases it's better to have the next QB up have a RS year for the sake of the longer term. Even if Wells was better in some aspects, he's stronger & more mature as a RS freshman than he would've been as a true freshman. And Wells is apparently a serious student of the game, so he knows more about defenses & his offense than he otherwise would've.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.
