HUNTINGTON -- A trio of three-year linebacker starters on the Marshall football team doesn’t leave much room for reserve playing time.

Backup Travis Noel understood the scenario full well, knowing that 2004 on-the-field minutes would be scarce at best. The redshirt freshman was right, managing just one tackle in four games.

Last season was hardly a waste, however. The efforts of seniors Kevin Atkins, J.T. Rembert and Dionte Wilson were not unnoticed by Noel, a 6-foot-2, 223-pound product of Etobicoke, Ontario.

  • Noel sounds like he's much improved, but I bet he'll have a heck of time keeping Newsome off of the field.
