If the NCAA ever adopts a system like this it would kill teams like Marshall financially. This system makes regular season conference games the only priority for P5 teams. Marshall and other mid-majors would never get money games from P5 schools because the teams could not take the chance of losing that game. P5 teams would have to go to a schedule format where the only games they play annually are conference games and possibly 1 out of conference game. That game would be against a low level G5 school with no hopes of of winning. Marshall and other quality mid-major teams would then be forced to follow suit and play fewer out of conference games and our available opponents would not be crowd drawers. We would get stuck playing even weaker schedules than we can possibly play now and the Joan would never sellout.
As sad as it is to say, Mid Major teams need the bowl system to stay the way it is for financial reasons and accept that in most years, they will not be represented in the playoff picture. The exception would be the years you are able to schedule a couple of quality P5 schools and pull off upsets. Then, and only then, the door might crack open.
