Lexkyherdfan and I, along with a fellow Herd fan, witnessed Lexington Sayre High School manhandle Fort Knox 56-6, with almost all of the second half being played under a continual running clock. Cole was very solid, hitting on most of his passes as he threw with pinpoint accuracy, tossing in a few bombs along the way. He also had a couple of nice runs. Especially effective was a little flick pass that traveled just a foot or two to a running back who came in motion. The competition wasn't the greatest but Cole was clearly the best athlete on the field. However, it was Luke, a freshman, who stole the show. He picked up an errant shotgun snap and cut through traffic, reversing field, scoring on about a 30 yard touchdown but all told running around 60 yards for the score, eluding several would-be tacklers along the way. He then threw a gem of a pass that traveled about 35 yards to a streaking receiver who caught the ball in stride for around a 65-yard TD pass. It will be interesting to see what Sayre will do the rest of the year. They are a solid, well coached, team, especially for a 1-A squad. It was well worth the $5 price of admission!
