The Better players on defense last year lost.  Offense is now better.  ST will be a wash.    Same team about because same players still here.  Some improved and some not.  I do think our OL coach is doing a solid job.

Last years team imploded and Wells went catatonic for 3 games, but they were tough every game before that happened.

This years team is so much softer than last years team.  So much softer on defense and softer running the ball.  I mean running for tough first downs and running the red zone.   That's my biggest worry that this team is gonna turn into a big 12 team and play basketball on .

Last year's team also played several opponents that were missing more than a dozen players.

I look for HUff to be on the hunt for bigger, stronger and faster/quicker DBs, for obvious reasons along with at least one stud D end, a couple of bigger, stronger D tackles, and some bigger, faster and stronger linebackers for the 2022 team.  We were exposed, defensively, in the 4th quarter, not to mention the fact that our D was gassed.  We really looked bad, slow and spent on those occasions that their QB pulled the ball down and took off running and had an open field for big yardage again and again.  No Herd player quickly closed, made a solid hit, and stopped the play cold for a short gain.  That plus the fact that as the game progressed over and over their running back tandem broke Herd "arm tackles", for substantial gains and the first Herd defender who made contact was unable to stop the ball carrier's forward progress!  Major "upgrades" needed all around, IMO!
