  • Bison, you are wasting your time, these guys have made up their minds and nothing will change it. As I said in a previous post.... Beyers could go 15/16 with 45 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, and 1 turnover.

These guys would talk for two pages about the one shot he missed and the one turnover he had.

In terms of perspective from our fan base, Beyers is the most underrated player on the team.

  • Browsed through the message boards for years finally getting around to posting. One thing I noticed after the Indiana game is how excited their fan base is over the win and their respect for Marshall's basketball team and I think that speaks volumes for what has happened over the past few seasons in regards to the program.

  • Love him or hate him, Beyers is the only viable option for The Herd.  Taylor, Kinsey, George, Obinna, Beyers, Goran, Marko and Early seem to be the only guys Dan has confidence in.  This remarkable freshman class that was supposed to take the world by storm is proving itself to be full of guys that are not ready to play impactful minutes this year.  Not saying they won't be good in the future but they are not ready now.  Toussaint is by far the most college ready of all the freshmen. I expect the same thing from next years class too.  I will be a couple of years in the weight room before these guys can help out.

Which beg the question, AGAIN, BoydCountyHF, WHY NOT an occasional EXPERIENCED player ever so often from the transfer portal or the junior college ranks.  How can Danny continue to bring in 3, 4 or 5 freshmen every class with only 1, perhaps 2, able and ready to contribute within a couple of seasons.

CUSA basketball overall isn't at such a high level that we should expect that it will take 2 full seasons or so in order for most of our yearly recruits to be able to be competitive and successful at such a level of competition.  That's just NONSENSE, IMO!

So the question has to be answered , AGAIN , the players DD looked at in the portal ,and offered , chose to go somewhere else , but hey , keep saying DD is to stubborn or didnt even try to look at the portal.

  • What we need is consistent 3 point shooters, Beyers is the best we got if his feet are set i have went to about 5 practices and all the home games this year and Marco  is a good 3 point shooter, does anybody know why Devon Collins isn't getting a chance he is our most consistent shooter in practice.  Early is a really good shooter and he is strong enough to take it to the hoop on most guards. We are really going to struggle with our inside game until we get our 3 point percentage way up teams will let us stand outside and throw bricks and air balls all day.

Yeah...but there were plenty of quality players that we didn't offer. That's the point.

Little evidence, at least publicly, that our staff has, at least in the last year or so, made any great efforts in that area.  Certainly haven't seen much either from any coach on staff that they are even looking at Junior College players, much less actively pursuing them.  Usually, word does drift out, on social media, etc., often from players themselves, along with those "recruiting gurus" in the media about whom players are considering, and what type of players various programs are after.  You see very little of that in the MU program other than, of course, the high school talent Danny and staff are after.

Of course, in the past, Danny has sort of shrugged off recruiting transfers and JUCO players, often with the claim that he wants players from the high school ranks because of all the "time" it takes to learn and become proficient in his "system".  Pretty clear to see from our play during games that that is a pretty damn LAME excuse!!

  • DD has looked at transfers every year hes been here . The first big he looked at was Stefan Jankovic , Big West POY, a grad transfer from Hawaii . He helped Hawaii reach the second round of the NCAA tourney . I believe he ended up not transferring but went pro. There are others hes looked at that us fans done know about but he does look , and offer .

  • Coty Jude wants to come to Marshall. If he doesn't, its because Dan chose not to get him and drop a dead weight player.

Could very well be that's because he can do little else very well EXCEPT shoot three point shots.  That's why we can't afford to put him in games.  Maybe, if Danny is serious about it, he ought to play him in games like the upcoming one with Bluefield.  Not sure if he played any against Milligan or not.  Danny apparently puts such a premium on EVERYBODY being able to shoot the 3 pointer, in recruiting and bring in walk ons, he often seems to not notice other areas of some players' games, such as defensive deficiencies, floor play, etc.  Or if he does notice, in many cases it just doesn't matter.

I realize Coty Jude is a local player and has had a decent career at UNC Asheville but if DD settles for bringing in a transfer like that he needs to be fired on the spot.  The guy is averaging 8 PPG and only shooting 32% from 3Pt range.  Those numbers are very much in line with his career numbers as well.  Coty is probably a good kid and is a fine player but he is not what Marshall needs to be looking for in the transfer portal.
