  • It seems the biggest complaint about Brannen at UC was that he worked his kids too hard, mostly from the holdovers he inherited.  He did a masterful job at NKU building a program, which led to him getting the UC job.

He lost his dad, who he was very close to, during that final season at UC which might have had an impact.  I met him at a NKU golf event a few years ago and chatted a bit about MU.  I thought he was a class act!

Hope he gets a hard look for our job by new AD

Alumnus and great coach before this UC garbage

  • It?s not gonna get better. Our roster is atrocious, particularly for the DD system (our guys can?t shoot and can?t dribble)

It?s over. I just hope DD retires so it doesn?t get ugly.

Anyone know if what John Brannen did at UC was that bad?

He would be great and needs to rehab his career

I read several news reports on the subject several weeks ago and going from memory.  As I recall the numerous allegations that he pushed athletes beyond reasonable physical demands, in at least some instances over training staff and medical personnel objections.  There were contradictory witnesses over every allegation.  Frankly I didn?t come away from the research with a clear conclusion on how bad he might have been or if he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

One thing that was clear was an incredible number of players chose to leave the program, way too many.  As the old adage goes where there?s smoke there is fire, and clearly his program was a blazing bonfire.

As I said I was uncertain enough after researching his tenure.  I wouldn't be totally opposed to hiring him, but I?d be very wary of him.  If we were to consider him, I would hope his problems there would be discussed at length in interviews and any hiring contract would contain very favorable to MU termination clauses.

He?s definitely got some issues but have to see how it plays out

He didn?t have any issues at NKU right?

    Post game interview

Geez that was a tough post game interview:
Bringing up youth as a reason for issues. Someone needs to let him know that OAK and Early are not true freshman and all the upperclassman have an extra year because of COVID. Also, no one is preventing Dan from getting portal players or transfers. Other teams are getting them just fine and beating this marshall team with them.
How do we not have a PG, let alone a backup in year 8?
He mentions their are communication issues with him and the team?
Lastly, quit bringing up that damn goldfish mentality.

It is time, but this looks like it is going to be a train wreck of an ending.

  • That damn spinning pinwheel behind the visiting team's basket should be illegal.  It goes way beyond poor sportsmanship.
I said the same thing and according to the announcers on ESPN+ it was set up there at halftime. It has to be a distraction. I don?t know why the officials allowed it and when the half started DD should have complained about. The Herd definitely doesn?t need anything that may cause them to shoot any worse than they already do.
