  • Today, Milo Yosef was named one of the 15 semi-finalist for the MAC (Missouri Athletic Club) Hermann Trophy awarded to the most outstanding intercollegiate performance in a season (this is the equivalent of the Heisman).  Voting is underway now and the 3 finalists will be announced next week.  I think there is a chance Yosef could be a finalist here, though I think Creighton's Duncan McGuire is probably a shoo-in to win it this year.  He has 22 goals and led his unseeded Creighton team into the College Cup this weekend.

The men's soccer team placed 5 on the All-Southeast teams as Alves, Yosef, and Bell were first team, and Semmle and Fernandez were second team.  The United Soccer Coaches D-1 All-American teams are announced on Thursday.

The women's team did place one player, Morgan White, on the All-Southeast third team.  White was first-team All-SBC this season.

  • Additional news:

Marshall sending 3 to the MLS College Showcase (think NFL Combine)...

Alves, Bell, Semmle.  Somewhat surprised Yosef is not here.

  • Bobby Gray had by-pass surgery and is doing well.  He is receiving a life-time achievement award from national soccer coaches for college soccer in January in Philadelphia.

Grassie has his work cut out for him next season, especially if Bell doesn't return. Hopefully he can pick up a couple of good mids and a solid scorer up front for next season. Keep the ranked streak in tact and another NCAA tourney bid.

I'm confident Grassie will reload with "dudes"

    Go Herd!

  • Yosef is named USC All-American Second Team.  He was also a 2019 USC All-American Second Team.

I am shocked that Duncan McGuire from Creighton is 2nd team.  I know Shakur Mohammed and Ilijah Paul are thought to be among the top players in college soccer, but I thought McGuire would have been a favorite for the MAC Hermann.  Also shocked Kentucky placed 3 on First-Team.  Figured that Bjorgolfsson and Grassow would get honors, but I'm floored that UK's freshman keeper got first team All-American.

  • Great match. Syracuse had 1st half advantage but Indiana controlled play most of second half and overtimes.  By end I thought IU was the better team.  I even regret saying anybody but Indiana as they played their butts off.  Still congrats to Syracuse and their coach. Another guy from England wins the Natl Champ. Such a classy guy. Cuse didn't even make tourney last year and brought in a few transfers including an All American this year who was in NAIA last season. Just a terrific match.  BTW, the semi and finals were on ESPN+ as well as ESPNU. So you could have watched every match in tourney on ESPN+.  A big step for coverage this year.

The foul discrepancy got me. At one point it was 15-2 not favoring 'Cuse. The Cuse coach was hilarious on the post game interview - seems very Grassie like. Glad for Cuse. The announcers seemed a little biased towards the Hoosiers. jmo.

Cobra Kai - now that's funny:)

Today (wed) I was in Costco and the image of Indiana coach yelling "sweep the leg" popped into my mind.  I busted out laughing right in the store and then couldn't get it out of my mind.
