I am not impressed with the football video board rendering. Main area looks small to others I've seen on tv.
That was my thought when I saw the rendering. The rendering I saw had measurements but I didn't take the time to compare the measurements to other scoreboards.
My thoughts are:
1. That the new video board has to be HD. HD is now the standard in video boards at college sporting events.
2. The new video board has to be large enough that it can be clearly seen from across the stadium. Keeping in mind that WV population is older than average and may not have as good eyesight as the fans in the student section that have younger eyes and set closer to the video board.
3. Same applies to the yardage, down, and other game stats that may be displayed on the board. It has to be clearly visible from the other end of the stadium.
Video boards should be designed to enhance the gameday fan experience. There is no other reason to have a video board except for the fans. Why bother upgrading the video board if half the fans aren't going to be able to clearly see it?
I don't care how may ads the board has if it is HD and large enough for everyone in attendance to enjoy regardless of their age or eyesight. If I were buying an ad I would want to be certain that everyone in attendance could clearly see my ad. One positive about the ads is it lets the fans know which local businesses support Marshall University. I prefer to support local businesses that support the community and in this case Marshall University. There are businesses that choose to support other colleges or universities with their money and not Marshall University. I choose not to support those businesses when given a choice.
