  • We didn't have the jump we usually have. Gave up too many rebounds.

  • Their HC is a veteran.  A key turning point was his fairly quick TO when Curfman hit 3 quick threes.  Our O hasn't been in sync since.  UNC Coach has been a 3 time Coach of the year in the Big South Conference prior to coming to Greensboro.  He obviously knew of Curfman from their Southern Conference play last year!  He took Danny to the Coaching woodshed tonight. Danny can "heal" quickly since one of our next games is against mighty Glenville State!

It wasn't a matter of their coach out coaching DD.. We were very tired and it showed with Andrew Taylor and the mental breakdowns. Not making excuses, but UNCG had a full weeks rest. I will say the officials wasn't favorable to us. We just got out played and they were better than us tonight..

If we played them 10 times neutral floor, we win 8. The better team didn't win tonight but the team that played better did. I knew if we sleep walked into this one we could lose, told my buddy that today at lunch, and that's what we did. We were there but our hearts weren't, guys just going through the motions other than kinsey. Might be good for them to feel the sting of defeat again to remind them how much it sucks.

  • They outshot the HERD all around, per Steve Cotton.  Hopefully, this was just an off night, shooting wise, for the Herd.  Got to work on our foul shooting though, around 62-63 percent is not that good at the D1 level.

  • 37% overall and 23%3pt and I don't know how bad the free throw percentage was. Recipe for failure against most anyone on our schedule. Give UNCG credit for part of that.

Well, if Coach and team can learn from this game, it may be worth it.  Check our conference schedule starting at the end of the month.  We play a lot of home games early in conference play, primarily in January.  Then it turns around in February with a lot of road games, trips down the stretch going into tournament time.  Hopefully, we can use this 3-game road trip to prepare for that part of the season, and be ready for quick turnaround games, including tourney play!!

  • Quick whistle this evening

Sorry TTT but i disagree with that assessment. They are letting them play a whole lot more than the crew at RM game. First call on Micha , they got the wrong guy and it was the official behind him that called it. Replay clearly showed Killian across the arms of the shooter. Only 1 "moving pick" called , Herd didnt use the P & R hardly at all. I agree with the analogy about Andrews legs and fatigue, nearly everything he threw up was short Just a bad game period, Shooting was atrocious and the free throws at some point was bound to catch up with them. I think that game spells the end of D. Early, if there ever was a time to use him to spell Taylor or Curfman, this was it. Conversely, i thought Goran provided some meaningful min.  If the same trends happen to rear their ugly heads Sat, then I would begin to wonder just which Herd is the real one. JMO.

E, Officials arent supposed TO B FAVORABLE. Herd was tired, lazy, whatever you want to call it. Nobody moved their damn feet, reach here, reach there, slow to get in defensive position on and on brother, officiating had not one damn thing to do with this. Got beat by a team that wanted IT MORE AND PLAYED THAT WAY.

I agree... except for 2 fouls against Handlogten.
And if the Herd had shot well from the foul line, the game could've been a different story. Foul shooting is in the team's hands, not the ref's.

  • Lots of empty seats so far , more green than anything else

It might have been close to 50 / 50 regarding fans.  And no way both put more than 1,000 butts in the seats.

Lots of Handlogten fans traveling not far away to see him.  Might have been part of the problem.  Too much pressure??  Or trying to hard to play well for family and friends??

  • Disappointing game.  Drove 3 hours to watch 2 hours of disappointing ball.  Oh well.  Had a nice time with my son.

In some ways, this, like the opening game, is partly to blame on D'Antoni for scheduling the game this way.  We open the season playing away to a veteran team with lots to prove, while 4 of our top 7 players are new and haven't played a game together.  Had TRAP written all over it.

Tonight we play our third AWAY game in 6 days against a team that just took a Top Ten team deep into the 2nd half.  Why schedule 3 away games in 6 days???  We did not play well in the 2nd half against Duquesne, did not play well against Robert Morris.  Tonight was a continuation of the same, maybe worse.

Taylor started off well, but he was sweating like an old guy having a heart attack.  When he came out in the first half, I wondered if he had the flu--not starting a rumor, totally based on what I saw from 15 rows back, which could be way off :)  By the 2nd half he was nearly invisible.  Curfman was awful tonight.  He had one minute of 3 great shots and 39 minutes of bad play.  I just can't believe he stepped out of bounds twice tonight before taking a shot.  He did it the other night at Robert Morris.  He's a 3-point specialist, how does he not know where the out-of-bounds line is??  My son wondered if Micah was too jacked up because of all his North Carolina fans in attendance.

Without Kinsey we would have been blown out by halftime.  The rest of the team looked tired and uninspired.  Though I will have to say Goran exceeded my expectations.

Once UNCG's guards began hitting their deep shots, we were in trouble.  Offense for us lacked dangerous ball movement.  We passed it around the arch, but never really attacked the basket.  Only a few pick and rolls and those were run badly.  UNCG was well coached and when Curfman had his one minute of fame, they called timeout and quickly took control of the game back.

Hope this slap in the face will make us better.

You are right. As a team we looked tired. I was concerned about that before the game. I have noticed that Taylor always seems to sweat a lot, but he looked like his legs were gone since a lot of his shots were short. It seems to me like the only good and consistent FT shooter that we have is Connor and he's not shot that many. There is a lot of work to do before Sat or it will be a long afternoon against Toledo.

You're right officials shouldn't be favorable, but they are at times. Some of the fouls called last night was ridiculous! One time Handlogten was called for a foul holding his hands up. Even DD could be heard telling the officials to stop calling soft fouls on his big man. I've seen women's basketball get away with a lot harder fouls. I know you're an official, but some of these officials has never played the game and call sissy ass fouls. This is why I love the NBA officials, because they usually don't call fouls for a player holding his hands up high and the ball handler making contact.. As a side note, the officials didn't lose the game for us. We beat ourselves and got out played.

I have only witnessed one college WBB game, but I've seen a lot of HS girls' games.
In both cases there were/are so many fouls & violations that it seems like the refs are so out of breath blowing their whistles that they quit calling fouls unless there's a busted nose or broken bone involved.

After reading Striped's response to one of my questions, I went to to ESPN+ and watched snippets of a good number of college games. It looks like the college refs almost always allows what AT was doing to draw those walking violations against RMU. NBA refs miss a lot of walking, but they don't often miss walking when someone is starting their dribble.
AT looked tired, but I wonder if the RMU experience isn't still in his head. He didn't get much time to clean up his footwork and get his muscle memory reprogrammed.

For clarification, the team and staff refer to Aymeric Toussaint as AT. Taylor is know by the staff and team as Andy, Andrew or Drew but but never AT
