Disappointing game. Drove 3 hours to watch 2 hours of disappointing ball. Oh well. Had a nice time with my son.
In some ways, this, like the opening game, is partly to blame on D'Antoni for scheduling the game this way. We open the season playing away to a veteran team with lots to prove, while 4 of our top 7 players are new and haven't played a game together. Had TRAP written all over it.
Tonight we play our third AWAY game in 6 days against a team that just took a Top Ten team deep into the 2nd half. Why schedule 3 away games in 6 days??? We did not play well in the 2nd half against Duquesne, did not play well against Robert Morris. Tonight was a continuation of the same, maybe worse.
Taylor started off well, but he was sweating like an old guy having a heart attack. When he came out in the first half, I wondered if he had the flu--not starting a rumor, totally based on what I saw from 15 rows back, which could be way off :) By the 2nd half he was nearly invisible. Curfman was awful tonight. He had one minute of 3 great shots and 39 minutes of bad play. I just can't believe he stepped out of bounds twice tonight before taking a shot. He did it the other night at Robert Morris. He's a 3-point specialist, how does he not know where the out-of-bounds line is?? My son wondered if Micah was too jacked up because of all his North Carolina fans in attendance.
Without Kinsey we would have been blown out by halftime. The rest of the team looked tired and uninspired. Though I will have to say Goran exceeded my expectations.
Once UNCG's guards began hitting their deep shots, we were in trouble. Offense for us lacked dangerous ball movement. We passed it around the arch, but never really attacked the basket. Only a few pick and rolls and those were run badly. UNCG was well coached and when Curfman had his one minute of fame, they called timeout and quickly took control of the game back.
Hope this slap in the face will make us better.
