  • MU up 4-0 with 19 minutes left in second half in this last exhibition match. Could be up 10-0. Starters played all first half and half of second. They will be playing an extra 30 minutes.

This team is loaded. Best scoring capability that I?ve seen for Marshall. Should be a fun season.

  • Thanks for the report.  Seems like we have everything to make a good run this year.  Hope we can mesh as a team, think Grassie can get it done.

  • Surprise starter at CB:

    Fujita

If he beats out Seidu and Bamford at CB then wow......loaded at CB

    Also Rose started at GK

What happened with Perrotta.....the stud transfer GK?

  • 6-0 final after 90 minutes. The last goal was wicked. A breakaway with a first touch header by the goal scorer and then shot into the goal. Didn?t stay for the extra 30 minute session.

Not sure how good Robert Morris is but it appears this could be Grassie?s most talented team yet. I counted only 4 returning players in the starting lineup: Duggan, Bell, Okiyoshi, Auomaich. The passing was crisp with an emphasis of pushing forward quickly either through long passes over the edges or attacking through the middle. The back line played well with freshman Fujita starting center back next to Duggan.

Not sure yet who will be the starting goal keeper though. Rose started the first half and Stitler played the whole second half. I believe Stitler started the last match against Michigan. The grad transfer from UNCW did not play.

  • Sounded like it was fun. RM was 6-7-1 last year and is in Horizon, which was the worst conf in country RPI wise last year. They also have a new coach.

I don't think Perotta has played since first game in Brazil...where he was pretty good. Could be injured, dog house, transcripts...who knows. Could also be he's locked up #1 spot. Guess we'll find out in about a week. I do think he is our most talented GK from what i've seen. I doubt Fajita has beat out Bamford and Seidu. The CB needs to be strong and fit. Anything is possible I suppose. Maybe Grassie is still determining the travel squad. Again we'll know soon enough.

    How was the crowd etc?

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Great crowd.  Great night.  I was very impressed with crowd for an exhibition.

  • Saw the highlights on Channel 3.  Thought it was a regular season game since the score was shown.  Thought maybe that all exhibitions didn't include any real score keeping, or perhaps no release to the public of any score, by mutual agreement.  Figured that was the case in our earlier match at Michigan.  Not sure of the caliber of the RM squad, but from the highlights it appeared that the HERD has a potentially potent offense!

  • I really like the fans first idea. Great way to get them involved. Free admission and some crowd interaction. Well done by the AD.

I would be very surprised if Fujita beats out Bamford and Seidu for that spot, but he played extremely well and has the size. Seidu played some, but didn?t see Bamford at all. Amaro came in for a bit. Got 2 quick yellows and the gate.

It was difficult to gauge the GKs. Rose played the first half. He looked good but also didn?t face a SOG or a corner.

Crowd was amazing for an exhibition. About the size we see for a good conference game. A lot of buzz for this team.

  • I thought the team looked very sharp all the way through, albeit against an undermanned opponent.  Passing was spot on and the defense was dominant, with very little drop-off when the subs came in.

One of the two goals from Aymane Sordo (transfer from Gardner-Webb) was video-game like -- I hope someone has a video clip of that to post.  He can contribute this year, without a doubt.

One suggestion to the MU Athletic Dept. staff -- shorten the Sons of Marshall song that is played after each goal.  It was entirely too long; the refs restarted play a couple of times before it was over.  Maybe hearing it six times made it even more irritating, but I would think an abbreviated version would still be a proper celebration.

My overall impression of the team is a very optimistic one -- I'm anxious to see how they look against better competition.
