  • Played a ranked Tarheel team to the limit.  2ots and I only saw it once but it looked like pass interference on that last play on UNC.

They played them that way last year also and also beat Texas AM. Then finished 5-7. They crash under Clark.

  • Other notable Sun Belt games:

    JMU over UVA 36-35.
JMU may not be the one hit wonder some predicted.  Jumped on UVA early and held the scoreless in the 4th quarter.  36 points with a new QB.  Cignetti's ability to recruit or develop QBs is impressive.

    Ga Southern 49-35 over UAB.
Good offensive performance vs an arch nemesis of the Herd.  Except for a one TD 3rd quarter the Ga Southern offense was good for a consistent 2 TDs per quarter.

ODU 38-31 over the Ragin Cajuns.
I thought ODU was dead on arrival this season.

    Ga State 35-14 over UConn.
What was impressive about this game was that Ga State had consistent offensive and defensive production.  State held UConn scoreless until the 4th quarter and scored at least one TD in every quarter.  Big improvement over their first game.

    Coastal 30-16 over Jacksonville State.
Coastal struggled offensively.  Big 3rd quarter performance secured the win.  Coastal showed some weaknesses on offense.

Big offensive performances by future Marshall opponents.  Good thing our defense is stiff again this year.  Our offense needs to get it together, make some catches and the OL has to start moving people around to open holes.  We may not face a rush defense as good as ECU the rest of the season, but if we can't score they won't need to be.

yes, exactly.  almost everybody in the SBC who's any good puts up more points.  Herd fans are hungry for points aka a dominant team.
in hindsight- so far, i think we played a good D and a very good D and came out on top.  Team is getting a little more balanced.  O is getting a little bit more balanced.  SpT needs to become an solid anchor and match or exceed Doc's.

it's been said a lot but it's real- Herd conditioning (including mentally) under Huff has been good and is getting better.  second half reliability is like a 12th man.  Montgomery is a good example of not letting his glaring mistakes define his day.

like ECU, i'd like to see the Herd swarm to the ball a little better.  i'd like to less dropped passes and i'd like to see an improved K/P/FG team and kick receiving/run backs.  The OL has room for improvement but i think there's more positive there than they're getting credit for.

i guess it's doesn't mean much but the Herd has the potential to beat anybody on this schedule, similar to last year.  will we be decent, very good or great?

The SBC has some very solid teams. We're going to have to bring it each and every week in this conference.

Without a doubt, it was pass interference on that play. Again, N.C., and N.C. State officials are some of the worst.
