Marshall University Director of Athletics Christian Spears announced on Monday that a national search will begin immediately for the position of head women's soccer coach.

That search comes after former head coach Michael Swan was relieved of his duties on Monday after four seasons with the Herd.

Spears isn?t afraid to fire coaches. Will the BOG let him fire Huff though? I feel like the BOG doesn?t care about these Olympic Sports outside of Men?s Basketball and let him do his job.

Sad.  They started out pretty good OOC, and then got eat up in conference play.  Heck, let them practice against the men.  Then they'll tear up other women's teams.  Playing top soccer men's team would get the girls ready for anyone on their schedule.

Next coach that needs to be let go is the Volleyball coach.  Another losing season with a conference record that is very poor to say the least.  Why Spears gave this coach a 3 year extension last year is beyond me.

The OOC was very weak. They were slow and not as skilled as most teams they played. The best players were Hugh and the goalie. Let a men's staffer take them over. The women's team should be better. There are enough good players within a 3/4 hour radius of Huntington to have a very solid team. Ohio, Va and KY have solid talent. NC as well.

I know it was weak schedule but remember the posts listing one win after another, early in the year.  Thought maybe something had changed.  Like I said, it's sad that there can be that much disparity between the two programs.
