Whoa, that's wild! I've read similar stuff to this other places as well so it may have some legs. There is a lot going on right now in college football. The settlement on revenue sharing directly to players is close to happening as well.

Considering Wakes coach in football is encouraging other coaches in the ACC not to play G5 at their place going forward this would be poetic justice for them.

We will only have 2 super conferences (BIG and SEC) and will be everyone else.
Fully expect what the article suggests and the super conferences will begin to kick out the schools not holding their weight.

That's an interesting way to increase TV revenue. Take the league down to about 10 teams.

I doubt ESPN would mind since they'd still have access to the football teams they really want to air anyway.

This is just talk.  All of those schools are under contract including the new adds until 2036.  That's why FSU and Clemson are still there.  They signed the grant of rights and are obligated until then.  If they leave whatever money they get from either the Big 10 or SEC would go to the ACC.

If anyone leaves their TV revenue goes to the ACC, yes.

But this article is talking about kicking out the football deadweights to increase TV revenue for everyone else.

ACC isn't chasing down the TV revenue of wherever Wake Forest end up.

 A quick google check of Wiki shows that Clemson endowment is around $994 million in 2022. Wake Forest endowment was 1.86  Billion in 2021. Duke's endowment was $11.6 Billion in 2023 and UVA endowment  was $13.6 Billion in 2023. Poor little Clemson aka "Cow Tech".

Big difference between keeping revenue schools and kicking out leeches.  GOR doesn't apply in the latter.  I would imagine some kind of compensation would be due those schools, removed, for their shares in the conference, however, it won't help SMU, Cal, and Stanford.  Cal and Stanford would be better off shoring up the MWC merger with Wash St and Oregon St and probably preventing Air Force from wanting to join the new proposed league and just staying put.  That cross-country travel isn't justified at G5 or slightly better TV money.

May end up seeing a semi-pro league with SEC and Little 10, then a collegiate league for the rest.  I mean that?s basically what it is now.
