  • Not saying he is not a good pick up, but as someone who used to get excited about following recruiting, with the transfer portal, I find it hard to get excited about any player until the fall roster comes out in August. We just had 2 or 3 guys transfer in for spring practice and bolt.

  • Transfer portal is just a joke as posted.  I may be way wrong but I believe you will see interest and attendance way down in most schools except for the top 15 teams.  Huff has some good pickups that just came for Spring practice and then immediately entered the portal.

    That is just dumb.

I agree in years past watching the recruiting process and evaluating how we faired drew a lot of excitement and interest. What's going on now has pretty much eliminated that due to the portal uncertainty. And it's happening everywhere.

  • Agreed. I've pretty much lost all interest in recruiting. The transfer portal has ruined it for a lot of us. I'll watch the games but I'm not sure who's going to be playing every year so I just don't think it's as interesting as it used to be.

Totally agree, and actually for me, it has seriously cut into my overall interest in the program.  Maybe the new method should include pay deductions for missed tackles, missed blocks, incomplete passes, etc.  Make it like real work, you mess up, you take a hit financially.  Who really cares that someone is here for money for one year, and then moving on to the next better paying position?  How proud can they really be to wear the Herd uniform, heck, it barely gets warm before they change it and move one.

  • on top of the portal/transfer anytime you want BS, a lot can happen over the next (almost) year and a half.

maybe i'm wrong but i think maybe the worst detail about the BS is:
remember how long it took and how seldom it happened to develop OLs, and maybe to a lesser extent, DLs into champion level groups?  not saying it can't or won't ever happen again but we've rarely had dominant key groups in recent times and that was before these negative major changes in CFB that make it even more difficult to develop chemistry and detailed playbooks.

  • NIL=NFL = MINOR LEAGUE?s in College! Marshall need?s its alumni by the thousands to step it up in contributions and with outside Trusts to fund the future moves to P5 status and encourage State support in doing so. P5 status is being looked at for Marshall there is no question.
Comittment to funding in Trust is essential. It can be done when there is The Will to do so.
