"Too many people are thinking of security instead of opportunity; they seem more afraid of life than of death"  – James F. Byrnes

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • Men's Indoor Track and Field scholarships are limited to 12.6 per team and women are limited to 18 per team. I am not sure how many scholarships Marshall offers. The scholarships Marshall offers are probably divided up between the athletes. On a sign note, having the programs increases the student enrollment.

*Scholarship limits per team: This number represents the maximum number of scholarships a program is allowed to award each year. Because not all programs are fully funded, the true number of men?s track and field scholarships available varies from college to college. Ivy League schools do not award athletic scholarships but provide financial aid through academic scholarships.

**Equivalency scholarship: Men?s track and field is an equivalency sport at both the NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 levels, which means coaches can divide scholarships up among several athletes as partial scholarships. For example, a D1 coach can split the 12.6 scholarships among 20 qualified athletes, offering a mix of partial and full scholarships depending on the recruit. The only limit is that the total of partial and full scholarships must be under the max scholarships per team limits.

Equivalency scholarship: Women?s track and field is an equivalency sport at both the NCAA Division 1 and Division 2 levels, which means coaches can divide scholarships up among several athletes as partial scholarships. For example, a D1 coach can split the 18 scholarships among 33 qualified athletes, offering a mix of partial and full scholarships depending on the recruit. The only limit is that the total of partial and full scholarships must be under the max scholarships per team limits.

  • Wonder if all are getting in-State tuition rate.  Sun Belt is a solid D1 T&F League, but it can be taken by the Herd if Marshall puts the resources into T&F.   Looks like they finally are.  Take advantage of having a 300m indoor track.  This means go for the W

  • They usually divvy all the money up and give each kid a little and hopefully most if not all get some academic scholarships and in state kids - the Promise.

  • Looks like the track team lost their best recruit when Michael Lunsford of Cabell Midland (one of the top throwers in the nation) opted out of a football/track deal at Marshall and chose to go full-time with track at Ohio State.  Too bad for the Herd!
