  • Had Mr. Rone (Rone Ranger) for 10th grade science at Midland.

Great person to talk to especially about Marshall sports.

Easily one of my favorite teachers (him and Mr. Ward) and sad to hear of his passing.

Prayer for strength and comfort to his family.

Had him for 8th grade earth science at BJHS in '82.  Used to love the little wars between him and Mr. Roberts.  Mr. Roberts was quite bald and Rone would shine a handheld laser (pretty rare in those days) on his head from across the hall so that Robert's class could see it.  He was a funny guy.

  • He was one of my favorite teachers in school.  He made learning fun and enjoyable.  Just another example of how fast time flies by.  He was a great guy and will be missed.

  • Marshall has lost a great supporter who truly loved the University. I've known Tom for many years. He and his wife (Janet) are some of the greatest people on earth. I sat next to Tom during basketball games for many years as we had season tickets next to each other. I would also travel with Tom on occasion to football and basketball away games. Had a lot of fun moments and conversations with Tom as the years went on.

I will say this about Tom....Tom was one of the most genuine, honest, and respectful people I have ever been around. A true gentleman in every sense of the word and would help anyone in need. I thought the world of him, and I'm certainly going to miss him.

    Godspeed Tom

  • He'll be pleased to find out he went right along side Richard Simmons and Dr. Ruth.  I'm sure he'd get a kick out of that.

  • Was TRS actually "The Right Stuff" or do I have them mixed up? What was TRS's actual name? Is there an obituary that can be read?

That is what I thought, and for some reason, I had the impression he was now living in the Dayton, OH area, or somewhere like that.  He'd been on this board as long, perhaps longer, than me....many years.

Many have come and gone, unfortunately.  Life works that way, I guess.

  • What was his name?

Tom Rone.  Science teacher at B'ville Middle and Cabell Midland (with my spouse) for years, and had basketball season tickets near me for 10+ years.  Nice guy and he'll be missed.

  • Funny how life can be.  I have enjoyed TRS on this board for years and did not know that the person behind that was Tom Rhone.  He was one of my favorite teachers growing up and wish I would have known it was the same person over these past years.
