Players from NC State? Maybe one. Cupboard will be empty coming in. Let?s see how well this man can recruit and use the portal. First order of business is keep our OC and QB, but most likely will be looking in the portal for a new QB, RB1, WR1 and WR2 along with a ton of other positions. Hope the Marshall brass are happy with this decision. I can?t be happy right now as a herd fan.

Correct! NC State lost at home this season to Wake Forest after giving up 34 points to a very down Wake team. Let's not forget that Louisiana beat Wake this year in Winston-Salem.

Telly Lockette has been named interim head coach. Hopefully this is a sign that he will be staying on.

Let's not kid ourselves, if 90%of our players got offers to Nc State, they would be there. We may be equal matched first team, but the depth is where p4 schools usually win. I imagine there some high 3 star players buried in depth chart at NC State  that may be looking to  come play here and be first/ second  team

Not only that, but I believe Gibson will be connected within the ACC, and we'll know who to reach out to find players exactly like that. Guys that might be freshmen or sophomore now that are buried that want immediate playing time, that we can offer them here.

He played in 6 games as a Freshman.  As did 14 other Freshman.  UVA was young that year.  He had 4 total tackles.  Was hurt in 22 and then came here.

I'm sure Gibson recruitedand has contacts in Miami, as they played there, North Florida, as they played FSU, all up and down the East coast in the ACC footprint.  His territory was north Florida and Georgia.  I mean he's been doing this a long time.  He'll also know guys from ACC schools in the portal right now that would be upgrades for us.

Huff was our first and only coach to work the portal.  We have no frame of reference for how good or not he was at it.  Obviously he was at least competent.  Not the point, really.  But he hadn't been doing this long.  Good chance we don't drop off and might even improve at recruiting.  I mean we now have a guy that was tasked with approving recruits, not just getting them.  A guy who grew up wanting to coach football, just like Huff did but has been doing it a decade longer at a higher level most of his career.  I'm kind of excited.  I think he's a player's coach like Huff, too.  We might be getting a Huff on steroids without the early mistakes and who can relate to the people of this area.
