Topic: Bowl Game, potential roster

Did some stuff with the roster and deletions from Portal announcements this morning, thing we are in pretty darn good shape for the bowl game IF seniors who are finishing their eligibility decide to play in the bowl; not including JJ Roberts and Mike Green.

Of course the glaring issue is QB, but I think Paracheck is a steady influencer on the team, he's been some places and shows maturity. (By the way, from Lockette's press conference, it shoudl have been clear to us all that Cole was leaving.)

Some interesting points:

Except the QB, the entire offense is available
* Two RBs that started the bowl game are available   
* The whole offensive line that started the bowl game are available   
* The tight ends that started the bowl game are available
* Senior laden WRs are available, and some recent "super stars" of lower classes

Defensive:
* Senior laden defensive line, plus recent emergency of DEs are available
* LB isn't so strong, but the recent playing time of Anderson, Hart, Beard III, gives the starting three ample experience
* BD's, still some solid experience not announced into the portal, if that holds through the bowl, this is a "break even" conditon
* S, some really good young blood still on the team, of course you can't really replace JJ back there

Anyway, I see a great team, with an amazing Hunger, arriving in Shreveport for the game.  Go Herd

Of course, further depletions change the whole scenario.

Most likely, isn't the first team meeting today with Gibson. After that, I would expect a flurry of activity in the portal.

JJ Robert?s tweeted that he is going to play in the bowl game.

I think we have to watch the wording in these messages, just like MIke Green's.  JJ said he was going to "participate" in the bowl game, that isn't the same as saying he is going to "play" in the bowl game. He may be an assistant coach, specific support to the young Safeties, sideline mentor between series, etc. But I don't think you're going to see him playing, or he would have right-out said he was playing.

Not trying to 💩 on anyone's positivity but without a QB and experienced line backers we are gonna get cooked by army.  Good luck stopping the triple option with all new LB's and a couple new DB's.  Offensively, we are in worse trouble.   With Earle we would have had a chance.  Now we are down to Parachek and I'm not sure who else.  We certainly can't run the Braxton style offense that won us 7 games in a row.  I hope I'm wrong as the guys sticking around deserve better.  Don't wanna see finish the season getting throttled.

Bowls are glorified exhibition games.  Now with the expanded playoffs, they are even less important than ever.  I don't want Marshall to get throttled in the bowl game anymore than any of you do, but it won't take away from the fact that this team won 10 games and won an SBC championship.  For all intents and purposes, the season is over.  I'm going to try to enjoy the bowl game as an opportunity to watch some of our seniors play for Marshall for the last time.
