As of December 14, 2024, several NCAA Division I football teams participating in upcoming bowl games have announced head coaching changes since November 30, 2024. Here's a summary of these developments:

    North Carolina Tar Heels

Outgoing Coach: Mack Brown was dismissed on November 26, 2024.

Incoming Coach: Bill Belichick, the six-time Super Bowl-winning former head coach of the New England Patriots, has signed a five-year deal to lead the Tar Heels. This marks his first collegiate coaching position, following in the footsteps of his father, Steve Belichick, who was an assistant coach at UNC in the early 1950s.

  • And how many of those coaches who were fired/let go/took other jobs told their players to quit on the current team/program as Huff apparently did?  Again, plenty of blame to go around over all, but our situation is a bit different as the coach moving on sure looks like he did all in his power to torpedo the program on the way out.

I'd like for them to prove he contacted a single player after he declared for USM on that Sunday or before if he signed it before and it made him actively their coach while he was still coaching us.  Love for him to get USM some fat sanctions when he's just getting started.  Only takes one.

As far as declining the bowl bid, it's irrelevant whether Huff and Sherrod encouraged all the players to transfers or whether the players, either as groups or individuals decided to go without the outgoing coaches' encouragement.
What matters is the quantity and, to some extent, the quality of what remains of each position group.

  • I am guessing that there are some things that happened we just don't know about. Huff talked with USM before they contacted Marshall about interviewing him. Maybe Huff did this before and trust was just not there anymore. Maybe Smith & Spears did something before this year that angered Huff. I just don't know if we will ever get the whole story. I do know I trust Huff less than I do Brad Smith.

  • The difference for MU is very clear.  There was a huge issue between Huff and the administration for a long time.  The fact that Huff had already taken the job a couple of weeks ago while we were still playing says all you need to know.

MU found out and then also hired Gibson a couple of weeks ago.  Neither side anticipated MU winning the conference and Huff probably went back to MU to stay but MU had already hired Gibson so the toothpaste was already out of the tube.

This lent it itself to where we are.

  • Undeniable the implication?s with Huff?s departure and this teams loyalty to Marshall University?s who committed resources to their Coaches and more importantly education while playing a sport. Huff?s wife?s secret was revealed during his introduction speech at SM last week if one listening paid the least bit attention! She was very intragal in his future decision. Huntington had too much whiteness influence and historical black influences that did not pair with her progressive political persuasions. She in my view was our Kamala moment! Expecting Marshall to kiss their (@/:;! Thank you Brad Smith for showing how business is to be conducted honorably! My personal view now in hine sight!

Thanks for posting this. The teams ahead of us could have seen more, but the fact G5 is getting poached a lot harder than P4 shows the issue of the system.

  • Interesting that at team with 20 portal commits is the team replacing us in the bowl; of course it is their field.
