  • You guys have misplaced anger IMO.  If Huff really cared about ?his? players he would have said ?you guys have had a hell of a season, but it?s not over. You have a responsibility to the seniors in this room to make sure they have one more chance to go out there and play the game they have given so much to. Remember that not too far in the future you may be facing your last chance and you won?t want your teammates abandoning you?.

Instead he says - be like me and only worry about yourself.
    You are exactly right banker.

  • It?s not about freakin? pride. It?s about doing the right thing for the long term stability of the program.  Just look at the stupid buyout clause in the USM - Huff contract.  If two parties are not willing to make a mutual commitment why in the hell do you want to enter in to a contract with them?  It?s stupid business.

I guess I have just been through this enough times to see it for what it is. I?ve let high performing people walk because it becomes counterproductive to have to constantly deal with their demands.  When I would propose an offer sheet to a client I would let them know it was my best deal, if not you just end up wasting time. I never accepted a counter offer in my life and always counseled my employees to act the same.

It is pride. Look at how coach Huff has always carried himself.

And it was pride from the administration side to not pivot from their own plan once they had made their mind up, seeing we were on a run and winning the conference championship. They had already made their mind up.

It is pride all the way around. Not a good day for Marshall fans.

No doubt for me, the second saddest day in Marshall SPorts history during my life.  Pride goes before the fall, and there was/is plenty of pride to go around.  Spears should be fired for letting this happen on his watch; the laughing stock of the entire NCAA D1 football programs today.  My concern, albeit not proven, is that there is only room for one highly egotistical person at Marshall right now; and two met each other. The BOG is also responsible, it is there responsibility, number one, to protect the image of our grand institution..

  • Huff should have been fired after last year based on his actions and a mediocre record.  Smith gave him another year with specific rules and Huff broke the written contract.

Huff had the perfect storm in his favor.  He was the walking dead to mst fans until a miracle overtime win at JMU and then an unexplainable win for the title.

Is was too late by then as MU has already hired Gibson and Huff had already excepted the USM job.

It was a cluster .............that the administration is 100% responsible for.  Laying this off on an up and coming coach with a big ego, and knowing more about his profession that anyone else around him, is sticking our head in the ground.  Don't you guys wonder how it is that we had enough money to pay our next guy more than Huff is schedule to make, increase the pool for the other coaches above what he was promised at USM, etc.; this was a programmed departure by our administration for months in the making. Now the fans are paying a high price, and actually the clients, as it is our money they are spending.

  • Months in the making .... agree 💯

Plan backfired bc didn?t take into account the love for the head coach in the locker room.  The place that only knows the players hearts.

You can tell the people that have only ever collected a check and have never run a business.  And I mean run it.  As in the buck stops with you.
