  • IIRC that this contract runs/ran through January of 2025.  (The document is an employment contract appointing Mr. Charles Huff as the Head Football Coach of Marshall University from January 2021 through January 2025   www.scribd.com/document/491164379/Charles-Huff-Contract)
So why did we let him out early without consequences? Why didnt we squeeze him to either coach the bowl game, or make sure we had enough players to play the game?  Why not withhold any and all bonuses due as he had not completed his contract?  I understand you dont want to have someone around that does not want to be there, on the other hand it may be better than what we ended up with.  I just think we some how should have squeezed him or gotten some money back.

  • You make a good point.  I have sent an email to Spears and Pres. Smith wanting specifics by position group on why we opted out.  Could be coach related more so than player related.  We just all deserve a specific answer as we are getting killed in the media.

They may be focused on the national championship game today but I would hope to get at least some type of response.

  • i didn't know this info about CH's contract, but this is the 1st thing i thought about when TG's contract specs were made public...how interesting it was that his anniv dates are end Jan every year.  not knowing CH's was the same, i figured we made sure those dates covered up thru & after the nat'l champ game to make sure if we get CH-ed again, that we're gonna get some damages $ out of it.

  • Not sure about Huff's or the assistant coaches, but in one of the first articles I read about Gibson, it said he had either a 25 or 50k buyout on his contract than MU was paying.  I would think if the assistants or Huff left before there contract was up they would forfeit money due to them.  Great question!

    EDIT: it's 25k  https://www.on3.com/teams/nc-state-wolfpack/news/how-much-former-nc-state-dc-tony-gibson-will-make-as-marshalls-head-coach/

i doubt our assts have a buyout b/c they're not making anything like what TG made, but CH's 8-week buyout or whatever it is should be well over $100k, which would obviously more than cover TG's buyout we owe.  hopefully we rec'd that $ & the admin just decided not to make it public.
