I don't like to lose, and that isn't so much because it is just a football game, but because defeat means the failure to reach your objective. I don't want a football player who doesn't take defeat to heart, who laughs it off with the thought, 'Oh, well, there's another Saturday.' The trouble in American life today, in business as well as in sports, is that too many people are afraid of competition. The result is that in some circles people have come to sneer at success if it costs hard work and training and sacrifice.- Knute Rockne

He was seen standing at the door waiting for someone to unlock it.

  • His agent is pretty proficient in getting Huff's name into stories.  Just would be funny to see the angst at USM once they start working other jobs.

  • No way he gets a sniff at a P4 job now. At least not anytime soon.

I agree. More than likely 4-5 years at the earliest.
However, if Southern Miss ends up 8-4 or 9-3 next season or the 2026 season, he'll be seriously considered.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • i would think if his agent thought he might get a shot at a P4 job -- or a decent G5 job, for that matter! -- he wouldn't have advised him to take the USM job.

i'm sure his agent told him that if he was still dead-set on being a HC, that it probably wasn't gonna get any better than USM.

I would bet his agent shopped Huff around to some of the AAC schools? If Huff did apply for Duke and VA Tech, maybe he thinks he has a chance; in his mind. lol

Anyway, it's not our problem anymore.

  • Latest ?rumor? indicates that the moving van company scheduled to move the Huffs to Mississsippi has been ordered to reroute the trip through Winston-Salem, NC.  Not clear if this was ordered by Coach Huff or Mrs. Huff, who obviously wears the pants in the Huff clan!!

  • Yes, this is getting old. But, this also testifies to the negative character of Huff, not Marshall! "You can't put it past him to consider changing again!"

It makes no sense. He didn't want us anymore. We didn't want him anymore. We've both moved on, so why talk about it?

If he job hunts them all the way to SBC title and very good bowl bid, I'd guess they will be fine with it.
