Huff should have been upfront with Marshall during his stay here. Marshall should have realized what was going on especially the last two years. A coach that wanted out and could not get out. Problems were building on both sides. Appy and JMU were somewhat down and Huff hit a lucky streak with his coaches and players. I think he knew that next year would not hold onto that luck. He was going to lose his OC. He knew that he had to get out while he could. I believe he tried to get Marshall to let him go but it wasn't working out smoothly as he invisioned. This is where it got nasty for both sides. They were butting heads and both knew it was a problem that could not be resolved. Neither wanted to keep this relationship. Things happened that should never have happened and everything went sour. Now we have a situation where paybacks have taken over a relationship that should have been settled a year ago both sides failed at something that should have been setteled long ago.

It's all about Character! Or, lack thereof! It seems like he just wanted vengeance on Marshall since things didn't work out for him. So, you try to destroy your previous employer. Usually, doesn't workout in the long run!

Yes.  An AD wanting to make his own hire for his own resume.  After all, it's common to have a coach coaching in title game with expiring contract.  I'll bet Spears hated the successful two point conversion at jmu.

Can't confirm this, but I heard we offered to match the deal USM gave him. Then Huff asked for better than that and Spears ripped up a contract in front of his face.

Our AD may be gone as well. Marshall athletics - we love controversy and stringing fans along. Maybe Brad can run the AD.
