We didn't hire the Morehead St basketball coach. We may not be good but he is destroying JMU. They got beat by 30 today by an average at best S Alabama team.

They did and it's why I brought it up. He was the main one that most were clamoring for.

I have said it 10 to 20 times here and I will say it again:

Marshall does better in basketball when they hire a quality assistant coach from a power conference program.

Huckaby (LSU assistant)
Donovan (Kentucky assistant)
Jones (Florida assistant)

We let Dan take one great season and a couple of other decent seasons....parlay that into a 54% winning percentage.....stayed wayyyyy longer than he should have......and let him convince the president to keep Corny as Head Coach In-Waiting.

We need a coach with connections.........connections to quality AAU programs......connections to Metro areas......those are built at the power conference level. You make those connections and you get quality portal players. Right now it just isn't there.

We had a chance today to go 1-0 in the conference with 4 conference games at home. We blew it against a bad basketball team today. Just a downright horrible loss, but those are the type of losses we are asked to get accustomed to. Welcome to Marshall!

We need an assistant from a Power school that has plenty of recruiting connections. It's all about recruiting now. And find enough money to go out and get 3-4 ballers and a surrounding cast.

Well in defense to that argument, we haven't done that recently either.

It?s one game. I?m sure JMU will finish higher than the herd in conference. At least he has some HC experience. We just hire an assistant to the guy we wanted rid of.

I'm sure the same thing. But JMU was really good and they are awful now. We were awful and still awful.
