  • You know what really worries me about practice is that we are measuring our abilities toward W&M. What are the coaches thinking about. This is the opening game. We are playing K/State, Va Tech etc., and we are measuring our abilities against W&M. I say it is time something changed!
IMHO, we need new leadership in offensive makeup. That excludes Cummings, who I believe is doing a great job!

    GO THUNDERINGHERD!

  • Good News:  It's only spring and we've gotten a lot of guys a lot of reps.  Seems a lot of talent that was lost to the classroom is back on the team and our new recuits seem very solid.

Bad News:  I have read a lot about how pleased people are with the team's intensity and very little about being pleased with their performance.

  • All you do now is find the players you think may be able to do the job and eliminate the ones you pretty much realize are not going to be starters regardless of the circumstances.

  • Typically we've played far better football against the big programs. Ithink we should be taking it a game at a time I truly think that last years team overlooked several teams on the schedule and that had a direct effect on the amount of wins. They definitely overlooked the Bearcats in the bowl game.

You're right...we have to prepare one game at a time.  We had better not overlook W&M in preparation of the K-State game...that could be a major embarrassment if we do.  However, after actually witnessing the Cincy debacle myself, I don't think we overlooked the Bearcats...we just didn't show-up to play.  Even Coach Pruett himself said there was a "lack of intensity."

  • I thought those phrases were pretty much inter-changeable.

HerdHead, what phrases in particular?  Overlooked vs didn't show-up to play?  I would equate didn't show-up to play with lack of intensity but my definition of overlooked doesn't necessarily involve the other two.  IMO, overlooked is more of a mental attitude toward your opponent, whereas didn't show-up to play or lack of intensity has to do with a teams physical attitude.  The difference to me is the mental vs the physical.
