  • Gibsons..

note the current total of Campaign of Prominence at the website

    http://www.mucampaign.org/main.html

$93,956,368.65 as of now...(this total was updated a couple weeks ago)

before I THINK it was $88,000,000

so this new total (the 93 million) could be after a $5 million donation...

    OR...

this current total (93million) hasn't yet reflected the Gibson donation...

    Food for thought...
In the middle of Huntington, West Virginia, there is a river. Next to this river, there is a steel mill. And next to the steel mill, there's a school. In the middle of this school, there's a fountain. Each year, on the exact same day, the exact same hour, the water to this fountain is turned off. And in this moment, once every year, throughout the town, throughout the school, time stands still.

  • But if that is her money shouldn't it have gone to the athletic dept. since their money got swiped?  They really need that.

  • The Campaign for National Prominence is piggybacked by several more specific programs, Thunders.  They do this so they don't have to keep adding overhead to manage donations that are given to the university.

Just yesterday I received my yearly letter from Joe Gillette, president of the Thunder Club (which falls under the CfNP btw).

He stated that we have already raised over $100M this year.  The projects targeted for our donations this year will be:

    Baseball stadium
    Wellness Center
Parking Garage(?) (I'm trying to recall from a very poor memory)

Evidently, for those with blind faith, this means that the IPF, the Shewey upgrade and the new turf are already a given.  For those that are more inquisitive, we are hoping that Verna can come through with the missing money.

What I like about the Thunder Club is that Joe stated that he is compiling a financial statement identifying where the money has gone and he says that TC members will have more of a say as to the additional benefits that are given to the coaches.

  • See I heard that Marshall was taking out a loan of 72 mill. to build the baseball stadium, rec center and a new dorm that will take place of Hodges and Laidley.   That was my impression.   As far as the turf and weightroom and such I thought they had the money for that and was said so by many news articles but now they are saying they don't know.  I hope it happens.

  • So which is it?

Is it money already here as in the 100 million from national prominence?

Or is it the d@mn 72 million dollar loan that I read in the papers too?

Hell, why can't it be both and let's get these upgrades fro CUSA.

The money in question ($6M) is from Joan and private donations, not from the CfNP.  Where that money is, no one can seem to tell me.
