Hopefully, that new much needed cash will be marked for tracking spending and who is moving money from here to there.

Let's not get our hopes up about this. From what I've seen, the only source on this rumor about Ms. Gibson is one internet poster and has been circulated on every Herd board as gospel. It may be true. It may not be as well. Let's not accept this thing as fact unitl offered some proof because if it doesn't pan out, people are going to start saying Marshall imbezzled the $10M, even if she never gave it.

More than likely a sum of that type would have to become public record. So, if she gives we will know. Folks, 5 million is a lot of smack. It seems a little far fetched to me.

Is the 5 mil for the University, the athletic department or the football program? If it's to the University, the athletic department orfootball program may never see it.

Exactly. I know Farrell would want it placed in general revenue (i.e., the "Campaign for Prominence"), but I'm sure Verna has been told in the past by Coach P that she should specifically earmark her donations to the QB Club if she wants it to go to the football program.

Three years ago, the football program formed the Thunder Club, which is a step above QB Club membership. $1000 per year. Verna and her husband are charter members of the Thunder Club, and they've donated enough in three years to be awarded the Club's sole "Lifetime Membership". So she clearly knows the importance of where and how to send her donations.

If the $5mill rumor is true, even if she gave to general revenue, I'm sure she's received assurances where and how the money will be spent. A donation that large would assuredly be cause to have her name on whatever facility results.

Since Farrell is lobbying for the full-time presidency, he doesn't want to ruffle the feathers of a large donor, especially one on the Bd of Gov's.

Ferrell is an enigma to me. I've heard so many pros and cons, I don't know how to take him.

One thing I do know. MF has his hands in nearly everything.

Farrell, is a hands on, well respected attorney, who has taken over a very dead ended situation, that President Angel had allowed to occur, and is slowly turning it around.

Thankyou Blade, for calling my attention to U of C being a private institution. I, have heard the plan is for this University to build itself up, and than allow WVU to take it over. Then it would be a State institution know as WVU at Charleston. Do you know whether there is any truth to this information.

Carolina. I can tell you unambiguously that there is no plan for WVU to take over UC. WVU is having enough problems with WVU Tech, and there is no way that it could afford to take over and run UC.

If you want to look at a target for 'take over', you might look at Bluefield or Concord. There's been some level of lust over establishing a beachhead in very southern WV.

Dan Angel did what ...I think some need to know a little more about Dan prior to making a statement such as that. If that were the case then explain why the university would pay him not only through this fiscal year but also next year. Same salary no reduction , until the end of the fiscal year 2006

MF is a puppet pure and simple, respected atty in the area, who or what attys are you holding him up against that would be interesting to know, or respected amoung his peers, thats a laugh, what atty do you know that wouldnt respect another in his profession , short of the guy being only a real estate atty. Thats not going to cover too many bases.

I for one certainly dont think that you could put MF in the same catagory as Angel or either of the two previous presidents prior to Dan.

Well, I'll say this much: I'M an attorney and I respect the he!! out of Mike F. We've been on the same side of cases and on the opposite side and I know that he's going to be well-prepared and effective in representing his clients. He's listed as a top litigation lawyer in the country and I wouldn't argue with that distinction.

Will he be Pres. Gilley or Angel? Of course not -- I think Mike is smart enough to know that he isn't an educator and needs to surround himself with people that are. His Provost is a very gifted administrator/educator and he could do a lot worse than relying upon her advice and counsel.

Sounds like my favorite pres. GW Bush..........is underestimated very much by his appearance, etc.......... does not act smart sometimes, but is MUCH smarter than i will ever be, and has a knack for just getting things done, and knows when to delegate...........Ferrell has my vote!!!
