I think this is a HUGE problem for games. It is not a tailgate friendly area around the stadium. I think this would make some people think twice about coming to a lot of games because it is so d@%n hard to find good places to tailgate with any amount of room and there is a possiblity of there being even less now. The place I tailgate is on 2nd Ave. in the big gravel lot behind that basketball training place. Well, I found out today by calling to confirm my spot that they are in the process of leasing it out to a place that is going to fence it up and basically use it as a dumping ground and storage place!! Needless to say I was very displeased with that because it was a great place to tailgate and not far from the stadium. It was only costing me $30 for the season and had tons of room. Now it is probably not going to be there. That lot is where a huge number of Marshall fans tailgate and a lot of the RVs park with people who come from out of town. I went to that lot because it is one of the only lots around where it actually feels like a tailgate because people actually get there early instead of a half hour before game time. If anyone has any suggestions on a spot that is close by and is decently cheap and has some room to move please let me know. As of now I have to look all over again for the perfect tailgate spot. Another thing what in the world do they do with that gigantic parking lot behind Huntington Physical Therapy on 3rd Ave.? There are signs up there that say NO TAILGATING but that lot is so huge and I always see like 2 cars parked in there. That place is ideal for a tailgate lot. How in the world do we expect to grow when we can't park anywhere near the stadium? Between MU building on and using up parking lots and all the fast food places and old rotten buildings taking up space that doesn't leave very much room to park for a big event! _________________
We can't compare ourselves yet to these schools that have 100,000 people at a game. We are Marshall and we get 28,000 in a stadium. People in this city make excuses because of it looking cloudy when deciding to come to games let alone trying to fight the parking.
Parking as been a problem in Huntington & MU since the creation of the automobile. I don't see the problem going away until MU purchases more property (ie ACF and its lot)!
