TULSA, Okla. -- An infectious enthusiasm coursed through Marshall University's defense Saturday night.A broken hand cost Jacobs three games of his junior season and he compensated with a relentless performance resulting in three tackles for loss, including a sack.Despite the 38-31 loss, the Thundering Herd was more proactive overall, attacking senior quarterback Paul Smith. Through five games Marshall totaled just five sacks and 15 tackles for loss; the Herd dropped Smith twice and amassed seven tackles behind the line of scrimmage.Jacobs admittedly "had fun," under the lights at H.A. Chapman Stadium, but remains frustrated at a winless record."They have an explosive offense and they score a lot of points, but we gave ourselves a chance to win at the end."We knew we had a challenge but we were up to it. We didn't get it done quite like we wanted but obviously we just need to work hard and hopefully we'll get a (win) against Southern Miss."
