If exhibition season for the Marshall men's basketball team has been any indicator to the type of campaign the Herd is going to have then the Cam Henderson Center faithful are going to have a lot to cheer about.

Marshall lit up the scoreboard for the second consecutive contest and defeated West Liberty State College 94-72 Tuesday night to close out head coach Donnie Jones' first exhibition season at the helm of the Herd in front of 3,929 fans.

What was a close game in the first half turned into a route when the Herd turned on its offense to the tune of 51 second-half points and pulled away from the Division II Hilltoppers.

"I'm really concerned about my team at the beginning of the game," Jones said. "I wasn't pleased with the turnovers."

Senior Mark Dorris and freshman Tirrell Baines led the Herd statistically, with Dorris scoring 25 to go with 11 rebounds and Baines pouring in 21 points.

Dorris finished the game one assist short of achieving a triple-double.

"West Liberty came out and fought hard tonight," Dorris said. "They came out here and looked us right in the eye."

Baines had another stellar outing in his second game for the Herd. The 6-foot-6 freshman from Laurens, S.C., was a focal point for the Marshall offense and fought for seven rebounds.
