HUNTINGTON -- It was smiles all round Wednesday when the Marshall University men's basketball team visited Heritage Center.

A Thundering Herd contingent led by head coach Donnie Jones met some of their fans at the nursing home and rehabilitation center. The players signed autographs, posed for photographs and answered a few questions from the crowd.

The guests arrived to chants of "We Are Marshall" from about 25 residents waiting in the cafeteria.

David Farley was perhaps the biggest Herd fan present. And, it wasn't his first Herd encounter. He met the team once before when he was working at the Green Acres Regional Center.

"A shot off the rim bounced off my head and went in," Farley said. "That coach said, 'Sign that guy up right now'."

Farley said it was his idea to arrange the visit. After football season ends he wants to meet that Herd team too.

Marshall guard Mark Dorris said the visit was better than good.

"It's a joy for the heart," Dorris said.
