The word that would best describe the 2007-08 Marshall men's basketball team is, "new," - new coach, new system, new players, new uniforms and a new attitude.

When the Herd takes the floor Nov. 13 against Pikeville College it will mark the debut of head coach Donnie Jones.

The Pt. Pleasant, W.Va. native came home to the Mountain State following an 11-year stint as an assistant coach at the University of Florida under former Marshall coach Billy Donovan.

The Thundering Herd lost several players from last year's squad but has added many key players to take over the open spots on the Herd roster.

Gone are Travis Aikens, Tre Whitted and Chris Ross, but Jones has made new additions in the form freshmen and transfers.

The new freshmen are 6-foot-6 forward Tirrell Baines, 6-foot-3 guard Matt Walls and 6-foot-6 forward (and Huntington native) Bruce Senior.

Jones brought in transfer players from all over the country when he got 6-foot-2 guard Chris Lutz (Purdue), 6-foot-3 guard Brandon Powell (Florida), 6-foot-6 forward Octavius Spann (Georgetown) and 6-0 guard Pierre-Marie Altidor Cespedes (Gonzaga), to commit to Marshall.
