  • Read this article and look at who pops up in comparison with Cincinnati.  wvu needs to get off their high and mighty highhorse, because as you can see they just plain suck.

    Quote
Of the 16 Big East institutions (as of July 1, that is), UC posts the lowest average SAT score (920) among middle-percentile freshmen. Its ACT numbers, however, are higher than West Virginia's.

Cincinnati's 49 percent graduation rate, equal to South Florida's, exceeds only West Virginia's and Louisville's.

Next to West Virginia, which accepts everybody, UC is the least selective Big East member, admitting 88 percent of its applicants.

UC and Louisville show a 74 percent freshman retention rate, ahead of only West Virginia and slightly in arrears of Seton Hall and South Florida.

  • We are required to accept all in-state students as well.  I believe I read where this is changing soon and MU and USPAM will be able to be more selective.

  • Ok, can we take the MU/WVU hate away a second and look at this. Do both schools accept more students with say 2.0 minimums because BOTH need students to grow or at least maintain and the WV population is declining? I know to get into Florida it takes about a 3.8 or better and a great sat or act for incoming freshman because of overpopulation. Its like anything else too. Giving a student a chance with a 2.0 is just that- A CHANCE. Its up to the student how they take advantage of it.

  • Marcbuff, your observation about population may very well be correct, or not correct. I do not believe anyone was trying to slam WVU, or MU, but the U of C, and their newspaper wrote this report. I believe MU admission is 2.1. I will assume WVU's is the same. The commission on higher education in WVA has made provisions, that will allow MU, and WVU in the future to change their standards. They are the only two Universities in the State allowed to make this change, because of a virtual open admission policy that the state has always endorsed. Therefore, in the future both MU, and WVU will be changing their admission requirements. It will become much tougher to get in as a student, virtually overnight.

    Best Wishes,

    Carolina,
