  • Found this on the editorial page of the Herald-Dispatch.

The new autonomy also means Marshall will be responsible for handling its own money. Before, every dollar Marshall received in income goes to Charleston, where it would be held until Marshall needed it. The state has given Marshall 1 percent interest on the money it holds, Farrell said. Now, Marshall can invest $18 million to $19 million with the Marshall University Foundation, which can earn 4 percent to 8 percent return, he said.

What does the state do with the other 3% of interest earned or does the state not have any financial people savvy enough to earn more than 1% interest?
"When plunder becomes a way of life for a group of men living together in society, they create for themselves in the course of time a legal system that authorizes it and a moral code that justifies it."

  • Daggone, I have to admit after reading, what this man has to undertake, we may need to start a "Presidents" club for support. If he can accomplish the mission of the University, and avoid Trumatic Shock Syndrome, he should become eligible for "Emeritus" status immediately. This would sort of like, being on the fast track to "saint hood."

Thankyou, Mr President in advance, for what we hope you will achieve!

    Carolina,

     :)
