  • My guess is that they are dragging their feet a little taking the scoreboard down so that they will be able to use it and the sound system for the Soccer Regional opening ceremonies (this Thursday). Not sure if they will have closing ceremonies there, but I am willing to guess that the thing gets taken down within a week after the Soccer Tourney is finished using it.

We’ve heard Specs. on the Scoreboard, any Specs on the Sound System? Is it going to blow our faces off?? Will it be surround sound – as in Speakers located around the stadium?

  • Good question about the sound system. I hope it blows everyone away. I wanna hear the rumble of thunder down 5th Ave so the people still drinkin' will know we did something good!

I just hope the old people don't bitch about it...if they do...well...tough.

Dude, you should know better...there is no satisfying the blue hairs.  I'd love for them to attend games elsewhere, out of their element, to see how "non college football-like" the MU experience is in their section.

You will be old some day. ;D   Just make the sound clear so that we can understand what's going on.  By the way I'm 50 and spent the last 26 years teaching little kids Physical Education so my hearing is not the greatest.

    There are no closing ceremonies.

  • I know mafia...most of them seem too prideful to stand up now and then and just go nuts. I understand age does have an element...but hell, if ya keeled over right there...you'd be legendary because you died cheerin' for the Herd and doing what you enjoy doing best! I seriously could imagine Kopp and Marcum seeing Marshall's crowd go absolutely insane over a victory then saying to themselves, "this crowd is too noisy and too enthusiastic...we need to do something to tone it down."

Fortunately, kopp's gonna be locked in his office when it comes to major sporting event decisions and the fans will continue to increase their cheering due to our success this season. Everyone knows we're comin' with tha Thundah!!!!!!!!

As for the age thing, yeah I'll be old too someday...i'll also have my I/V switched with Jack or Jim as I sit in my wheelchair at 90+ with a megaphone aimed at stupid 'EER fans talking about how much they suck now and have sucked when I was in school.
Deck me out with kelly green and a beer on gameday and I'll die happy...that and if i were married to Kate Beckinsale.

As much as they tend to annoy me as well, your statement is way off base.  I know from experience that a large part of the large traveling group of fans we have are the "blue hairs," so they've been to VT, GA, UF, etc.

Came here to say that.  If there is a group of fans I am dissappointed in it is the many students who find something better to do on gameday...not to say I am not really grateful for those who come.

  • That's another question. Where have the students been the past 8 years? Why is the student section so bad at Marshall?

So they've been there and still don't get it?  Thanks for the clarification.

  • I was completely wrong.

I drove by today and the speakers are out. The back of the scoreboard is off. The advertisement panels are off. And the inside of the scoreboard is gutted. All that is left, is the scoreboard face and sides.

They can only handle one game where the atmosphere is electric and real.

Why they bitch about our fans being too loud or rowdy is beyond me.

As for our student section...those who made it to the games were enthusiastic as hell. Most are locals who generally jump on the bandwagon...sucks.
I hope Doc and our squad will bring some excitement back to our students so they have reasons to stay.

  • When I was at MU from 80-85, you rarely, if at all ,saw WVU stuff around campus. Good thing I dont attend these days, I'd tell them to get the hell out and dont come back.
