Coolest story I've heard about Moss was from Pennington during the HofF banquet. Pennington said the game against Army we had ran only 13 plays during the first half. In the lockerroom Pruett told him when we get the ball to start the 2nd half we need to have a long sustained drive to give the defense a break. When the offense lined up Pennington looked over and Moss was being single covered by Army. So much for the sustained drive...1 play and the defense is back on the field.
Marshall Thundering Herd - Moss 90yd TD vs Army 1997
Pennington also said it was the only time he got cussed by the defense for scoring.
I thought it was funny the Moss didn't know how long the TD (said something like - seventy, eighty some yards, I don't know) and Pennington interrupted him and gave the exact yardage (90 IIRC), the down, who was were, etc. Then Pennington said something to the effect - QB's remember when they get their stats padded with 90 yards passing for throwing the ball 5 yards.
