  • I honestly don't know how Dantoni would do as a coach at Marshall. Yes he is known for his offense and not so much defense. But he may bring in a defensive minded assistant. And i do know that it would have the community a buzz. But this is all predicated on the fact that someday Herrion would leave. Right now we have a heck of a basketball coach that i would like to see stay for a long time. Go Herrion and Go Herd!!!!! Next year is the year boys. We are a lot closer to the VCU's and Butler's than most people think. Next year i think we are as good talent wise. We just need to cut down on mental mistakes, focus on every freethrow and be ready to play every minute of every game. We could very easily then turn next season into 25-26-27 wins on the year. Heck we could have very easily had 25 wins this year and should have. A couple more talented players added onto last years team with a whole year of experience under their belts will be bigger than you think. We are going to be loaded for bear and i'm counting down the days.

  • You may be biased, but at least you know it.

In truth, Colangelo (sp) was the GM who gets credit for "re-building" the Suns. D'Antoni took what his GM gave him, and fortunately for him, the players fit the coach.

People tend to forget that in D'Antoni's previous stop (DEN), things didn't turn out so well... notably, even though he had had a hand in building that team as its Director of Player Personnel.

Mike was the head coach at Denver for less than one full season...... The strike shortened year and his Nuggets team won more games in the short season than Dan Issel's team had won in the full season the prior year.......they did so well in fact that Issel, the team's GM fired Mike and took the team back the following year.....

-sturt-, so you are g that Mike had no hand in acquiring, let's say----- Steve Nash?

  • I would LOVE to get Dantoni to coach at Marshall one day. He would be here for the rest of his career. It would be a no brainer to hire Mike as head coach because he would be a longterm coach that we wouldn't have to worry about bolting for another school in a year or 2 after having a good season. Kind of like what WVU got with Huggins. They got an alum whose dream was to come back and coach his school. It would just make too much financial sense. Plus you don't have to worry about Dantoni wanting to leave because he isn't getting paid enough money. The man has millions. He won't need a huge contract to keep him around.

"So I am g?"... do you mean... "so I am sure...?"

Not sure how I would be sure of that, but from what I've read, it was very much a matter of the Suns willing to spend more on Nash than Mark Cuban was. Cuban has quite the write-up on that whole situation in his Mavs blog... I'm guessing you've read some of that.

The original point was just for us to keep things in balance...

D'Antoni is a great coach. But general managers more often that not are the almost-exclusive architects of the roster of their teams. That's all I meant.

Should have been "....are you saying......"

Certainly it depends on the team as to the head coach's input on player moves........but in the case of Nash, Mike identified the player/players he wanted at the position and the GM went after them..........

  • As far as I'm concerned, I could care less about D'Antoni andMarshall...because Herrion is our coach and a great one at that.

I was more surprised at everyone's immediate jump on board with it...almost as though Herrion had already left and that bothered me.

My favorite part is how much WVU fans want him to go...cause he embarassed them. We should do everything we can to see that he stays.
